hm... a Rogue with high Hide, Move Silently and decent Sneak Attack could take him out with one shot. It's all about winning initiative.

"You're a bad man!"

Ecl of a human that may cast wish once per day as a supernatural ability?

This is a perfect example of a situation where level adjustment flat-out fails.

Let's say that the guy is a 1st level commoner with all 10s and 11s (ECL 1/2). Give him wish once a day...

Nobody who can cast circle of death or distintegrate or prismatic spray or cloudkill or (God forbid) planar binding should have an ECL low enough that they automatically kill anyone of their level, right? Not a fair challenge in a straight up conventional fight.

But nobody with AC 10, 4 hps and no special qualities should have an ECL of 10 or above, right?

ECL and LA fail to account for this sort of case.

Basically, he's like a lesser god of one particular spell...but still young.

FWIW, in the 1980s version of the series, Mumy reprised his role in an episode in which he as an adult met another child with the same abilities.

Sorry, surprise won't do it. He was telepathic, and always aware of what everyone around him was thinking. That's why everyone around him always had to make an effort at "happy thoughts."

To kill him you need to set a trap for him, one that nobody else knows about.

Then, to be sure, you need to kill yourself, so he can't learn about it from you.

I had forgotten about the mind reading. A little more difficult then, but still doable.

Yeah, a long-range attack would work, since he didn't generally track every mind all the time, just those nearby.

But that attack can't be planned too far in advance, lest he learn of it, it better be instantly fatal, and you'd better not miss.

It might almost be a "danger sense", since the kid had to sleep some time, and he still managed to survive. In which case, just get used to thinking what a good day it is.

In the original short story, the doctor who delivered him saw what he was instantly, and tried to kill him. "Tried" being the operative word.
