Elvidra escorts the group to the edge of the glade. A large circle, ringed with stones is covered with a layer of brown leaves sits in a clearing by a brook.

She writes some symbols on a piece of parchment and hands it to the group.

"This will give you a way back if needed."

GM: You received a scroll of Linked Portal.

She then takes the time to activate the portal. Wind picks up and the circle flares to life. Vines wind in a spiral around the portal and then pull apart, tearing the fabric of space open, revealing a rift of absolute darkness. Elvidra looks at the darkness with a puzzled expression.

"That's... unusual. You should be able to see what's on the other side as if it were right next to you."

She turns back to the group.

"The portal will only remain open for a few moments. It's up to you if you want to go ahead or take the long way, but I can't tell you what's on the other side."

GM: The portal is only open for 3 rounds, so don't take too long to discuss.

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
"I'll take the scroll. Thank you for your assistance, Lady of Summer. Let's get moving."

The warlock moves into the portal drawing shadows after him.

"Thank you for your assistance, we will see what has happened to your sister's domain." With that Brenwar steps through the portal.

Spawn of Khyber/LEB Judge
The unassuming man, who had appeared at the back of the group when no one was paying attention, slips again from everyone's notice.
OOC: He walks through, stealthed of course.

*Kauldron grins under his masked helm as he passes the girl by giving her a wink.*

See ya in a few lass.

*Said as he stepped through the portal, shield in hand ready for anything on the other side.*

You step through the portal and into the darkness beyond. As soon as you appear on the other side, the source of the darkness becomes apparent. You are immediately assaulted by plumes of choking smoke that gets in your eyes. Within an instant, searing pain grips you.

Something has set a bonfire into the circle. Ill-protected from the winds, the snow causes it to sputter and smoke.

[sblock=Bonfire]Effect: 10 fire damage.
Attack +10 vs Fortitude
Hit: Binded (save ends)
Aftereffect: -2 to attack rolls until the end of your next turn.

Bonfire Hazard (Kauldron, Brenwar, Dox, Cyr, Martelai, Tarkus, Earth) (1d20+10=23, 1d20+10=28, 1d20+10=29, 1d20+10=27, 1d20+10=28, 1d20+10=17, 1d20+10=29) (MISS, HIT, HIT, HIT, HIT, HIT, HIT)[/sblock]

Though you cannot see them, you can hear creatures start to stir as they notice your painful arrival.

[sblock=Initiative]The ettins have a +5 average initative, but because they have 2 sets of actions each round, they will act on +15 and +5 for a total of 20 and 10 initiatives.

Initiative (Kauldron, Brenwar, Dox, Cyr, Martelai, Tarkus, Earth) (1d20+6=17, 1d20+3=16, 1d20+8=14, 1d20+10=18, 1d20+4=11, 1d20+1=21, 1d20+4=16)

Tarkus 21
Ettins 20
Cyr 18
Kauldron 17
Earth 16
Brenwar 16
Dox 14
Martelai 11

Ettins 10[/sblock]

GM: Reminder: You cannot avoid harmful effects by delaying, so if you delay while within the bonfire, it triggers as though you ended your turn in the zone.

GM: Sorry for the extra delay. Things went crazy and work and everyone else in the house was sick. I'm on vacation next week, but will be away at a convention next Thursday through Sunday.
