The trick to making something like this work is to negate the players' advantage without negating their abilities-- find ways to keep their abilities from being effective without keeping them from using them. Let them be awesome without being invincible.

The Superior Summoning feat lets you summon an extra one creature whenever you summon more than one of somthing, and if you summon something 2 levels lower on the Summon Monster list you can summon 1d4+1. So it's actually an average of 4.5 per round.

And as a master summoner the summons of the player in question last 1 minute per level, not 1 round. So at the time her summons lasted 70 rounds. And as a Gnome with 22 Charisma she got 11 uses of that SLA per day. Technically an average of 49.5 summons if she used them all at once, but she rolled decently and got over 50. And of course they could tell that the big well-guarded door in the heart of the fortress led to somewhere important, so they did all the summoning before opening it.

Protection From Good. Less of a cheap shot than just saying "No your best ability doesn't work". They got backed up against the wall the first time they ran into one of those. Fortunately they realized to dispel it.
