PC/Console RPGs - What are your memorable Quests?

A Wicked Kendragon
He never escaped the pillar of skulls since my Charisma and Strength was too low to free him. :(
Ah. To free Morte you need to be a double specialist.

Edit: that is, the stats are unrelated. You need to have both specializations from one of the three classes.

Edit to edit: or, you know, not have him taken in the first place. ;)

Yeah, pretty much everything from Planescape: Torment. Even now years, later, it's hard to find a better rpg. The painting and assassination missions from Oblivion were great as well. So was the one where you infiltrate the Imperial Palace to steal one of the Elder Scrolls using those awesome boots. And another one where you end up on top of a cloud 10 miles in the air and can look down and see the whole continent spread out beneath you.

Another interesting quest is in Borderlands, which is pretty much entirely composed of "go here, get this, kill them" missions - it's the nature of the game's style. What made me laugh, though, are some of the motivations the NPCs give you for the quests.

Take Scooter, for example - a humorous redneck mechanic. After being all jokey and cute for a while, he later sends you on a mission to rescue his old friend Lucky: "And by old friend, I mean :):):):):):):) who ruined my momma's girl-parts." He wants you to rescue Lucky from bandits so he can slowly torture him to death himself.

Amusing enough on its own. Muuuuch much later in the game (as in, during the third DLC) Scooter casually mentions that if you are rude to his momma, he'll kill you and bury you where he buried Lucky. "What? Don't look at me like that. I told you I was gonna do it!"

I just love the contrast between this funny, happy-go-lucky mechanic side of his character on the one hand, and this sinister psychopath on the other who will stake you out and leave for the skags if you disrespect his momma. Give who his mother is, it makes me wonder if Scooter has a whole string of hidden graves out there...

That sounds awesome Mark - I'm not familiar with the Oblivion "up on a cloud" quest. Can you tell me where to find it and maybe who gave it to you?

It's right at the end of the Knights of the Nine questline - Umaril the Unfeathered, iirc. You get it automatically as part of that questline.
