Stepping forward, Merri confidence bolsters her allies, she stabs the dragonborn. Ignus feels protected by Merri's boldness.

Eva's magic kills two more guards and dazes the guard captain. Merri hits the captain as well provides protection for the monk. The captain counters with no success, obviously reeling from the previous attack on him. Another guard rounds the corner, stopping and firing an arrow which embeds into Merri's thigh, causing her to scream in pain.

Ignus lets out a surprising growl as Merri is hit and unleashes a flurry of blows that leaves the Guard Captain looking as if a very angry lion has gotten its claws into him.

Eva aims her long staff at the last guard's feet. His recently deceased comrades begin to stir, and with little warning, they lurch toward his legs and tear at them with unholy hunger. The captain seems just able to resist the assault... but Eva quickly puts an end to that with a magic missile. Her bolt sails into the guard's chest and sends him sprawling toward the ground to join his undead subordinates.
