Daral Kin

Lwaxy

Cute but dangerous
The city of the dwarves is rather gloriously named, referring to the ancient tribe of the Daral, who were supposedly the first to be created out of pure stone.
Only a small part of the city is on the surface. No one but the dwarves are sure how big the city stretches under the mountain, and they keep it a secret. The natives do not like this expansion, but when the dwarves first settled, the limitations on city expansion were only set for the surface world. None of the native races could imagine anyone but Nezumi wanting to live partly underground. Thus, the dwarves are watched with suspicion, but no action is taken. Daral Kin may be the biggest settlement on the continent.
The city is friendly to outsiders, at least the surface part. The further you travel underground, the less welcome strangers are, partly but not only because it is not wanted for anyone to know the true expansion of the dwarf settlers.
Crime is rare, as the laws deal swiftly with lawbreakers, and many have found themselves banned from the city or thrown into prison. It is rare for the king or queen to hand out the death penalty, and it is only for truly evil individuals. The last one executed was the half-dwarf wizard Nerubon a few decades back after he tried to turn the surface city into an undead place.
It is also a rather ordered city, with street names and places referring to each other. It is easy enough for a new resident or visitor to find what they are looking for, and guides are cheap to hire as well. Daral Kin has no homeless problem as a dwarves who have lost their home may simply move into another cave or given up building.
