[WOTC] Core Rulebooks to be revised?

I saw this post on a message list I frequent. I'm trying to find out if it's just a fanciful rumor, or if it's true. Unfortunately I don't know where the WOTC 2003 May-August release schedule is located, so I can't confirm anything yet.

Anyone else have any information?

I just saw the WoTC 2003 May-August release schedule. In July they
are planning on releasing revised versions of the PHB, DMG, and MM. I
have included several portions of the below. I'm just wondering if
the Circle has seen any of these changes and how they might plan on
preparing for the possible changes to people's characters.

>>Each of the D&D core rulebooks has been revised and updated for
clarity and content. Each revision integrates user feedback received
since the original product release so as to address the specific
wants and needs of the player and DM audiences. The overall rules
system remains intact, with changes targeted specifically at elements
of game play that were considered under-powered or incomplete.

These revised editions also contain bonus content, such as new feats,
that are exclusive to these editions. In addition, the new and
revised content instructs players on how to take full advantage of
the tie-in D&D Miniatures line planned to release in Fall 2003 from
WoTC, Inc.

Overall changes to all the titles include making complex combat
easier to understand and provide more information on interacting with
and summoning monsters. Specific changes include the following.

* The PHB received revisions to character classes to make them more
balanced and there are revisions and additions to spell lists.

* The DMG was reorganized to make it more user-friendly. Changes have
been made to the item creation rules and pricing, and there are new
prestige classes included. There is also expanded advice on how to
run a campaign.

* The MM now contains an adjusted layout that makes the monsters
statistics easier to understand and use. There will be some new
illustrations and a new index, and there is now expanded information
on monster classes and playing monsters as heroes.

*Each revision includes some premium content from products that
followed the original core rulebook release.

Hmm....they don't have their new release schedule on their website yet...

It seems to be a quote, though... I wonder if it's true.

Sounds good, except for that minatures tie-in thing. Sounds like battlesystem or the Players Option: Combat & Tactics all over again.

I hope this rumor is true. The core books could definitely benefit from a revision. Many of the rules could be organized and explained so much better.

Flexor the Mighty!

18/100 Strength!
Ugh...Don't plan on buying them and if they force me to have to make changes to 3rd party stuff I'd want to use with my original books then I'd be quite pissed off.

I wonder if this is the 3.5 Edition that we have been hearing about?

I'd really like to see the damage soaking armor rules and Defense bonuses that some of the other d20 games have.

i don't know... it sounds good, but at the same time the book s work well, and chances are the feats will be feats from the splats and else where...

which i have.

i'm interested in the minis line, but i don't need them in my books....

i guess having skill focus at +3 in the books would be nice.

I'll wait until I hear from the fans after this stuff comes out before I'm willing to say if its good or bad. No use guesssing at this point.

Exactly why I hope this is true.

The initial 3E core books and SWD20 were poorly done IMO. WOT was better, and products like CoC and the Revised SW core book are much better presentations of the D20 system. Upgrading the 3E rules to a format and presentation that is as high quality as , for example, the Revised SW core book, is something I don't mind paying for at all.
