Exactly. That's what I didn't get. Unless they mean PBeM. Which is a whole different animal.

That's not what a transcript is. A transcript is a ex post facto written copy of particular material. Making a post in a pbp game would surely not be making a transcript. Copying all of the posts made in a pbp game and posting them as a single document presumably would be.

As far as I know, this.

You can PbP without posting the mechanics, either the DM could roll all the rolls or the player could PM the results to the DM, either way I'm excited! Thanks P-cat!

I don't see how that is any different from Joe Schmoe just reading the PBP as it's being played.

So, I can have a thread that is every post with every mechanic we discuss and use in game, and that's fine, but if I copy and paste that whole thread as one post even if I do it in the same thread, it's not okay? It's just awkwardly phrased, I guess.

EDIT: And I'm not asking just academically. I want to run a PBP of this, but I don't want to run afoul of Wizards of the Coast. On an alignment scale, I would sit inside the bounds of LG leaning on the edge of NG.

Fantastic news, and clear evidence that they are listening. I never had any doubts as to whether they were listening, but I know that other people did.

Also, thanks to Piratecat for helping to organize info about how this would affect ENWorld's users--I'm sure that that feedback (and similar feedback) was part of the reason for the change.

I'm looking forward to playing some Skype and Google+ D&D Next!
Storyhour plugs: Aphonion Tales, a storyhour that I write (mostly) about a campaign in which I'm a player.
The Journals of Konrad Jagger, Licensed Diabolist, a storyhour I write set in the same world as Aphonion Tales, but about different characters.
Orichalcum's Way Cool Roman Storyhour, in which I'm a player.
Welcome to the Halmae, a nifty storyhour about a campaign for which I occasionally Council of Evil.

    Unfortunately moribund:

I readily admit that I thought WotC not nimble enough to fix this in a timely fashion. I am pleasantly surprised to see that I was wrong and am already working on pulling together an online game over Google Hangouts in the near future.

Ah, well since it is permitted now, if you're by yourself you can use my DM aid program to play-test this yourself. This works best with the latest Firefox.

Send any and all corrections and suggestions to the email at the bottom of the Javascript game.

Ignore my house rules listing at the bottom or test them out too and tell me how they work. I have a bunch of spells and feats that could use some testing for my own game.

Good one WotC. This is fantastic. I know a few people that will be ecstatic.

This is good news, but I can't help but wonder if this permission has the same weight as the permission that WOTC gave to ENWorld to have a library of conversion documents when 3e first came out.
