As Galim warns the others then moves up to get into his usual front line position, a ray of brilliant light leaps from Marius's holy symbol to strike down one of the hiding kobolds. (M for minion)

Then the forest erupts into a flurry of scales and yips as the creatures swarm out of hiding and ready to attack the lone dwarf.

Even as the first kobold falls to his attack, Marius watches as half a dozen more swarm towards Galim who hurried forward to intercept the ambushers. His surprise and instinctive reaction fade away for a moment as he murmurs a prayer to Corellon before taking a step back from the kobold line.

"Oh, shed your light upon us to burn away the darkness and guide the righteous."

Just as Jotrek starts to move towards the rock theres a flash of light and several kobolds rush from the surrounding area. "Like I said...damn kobolds. I'll take this one."

"Kobolds?" Ellowyl looks up from her deliberations, blinking. "Did someone say...? Oh."

She tucks the papers away and thumps her staff on the ground, her jaw setting. "This won't do at all."

A chill wind blows over her and across the party and kobolds as her voice takes on a slight reverberating overtone.

"Winter wind, hear my call. Rivers freeze and snowflakes fall. Let the icy claws descend, thicken blood and body rend."

The sky darkened, and a howling arctic wind tore across the battlefield, curling into a tight vortex of ice and snow and fury around the two most distant, and strongest looking, kobolds!

(Freezing Cloud on D13, affecting D1 and W1... Okay! It turns out that this spell is Burst 2! So it affects anything within 2 sq of D13. It also creates a zone after the immediate effect. Anyone starting their turn in the zone, or entering it from outside, takes 5 damage immediately. Also, my to-hit bonus is +5 not +4, so add 1 to each of my rolls there. The Freezing Cloud does half damage on a miss.)

Doral moves to stand beside Galim and strike out at one the remaining kobolds. The shifty creature dodges the blow and he curses at his luck.

Meanwhile down the road an icy storm erupts out of the calm blue sky and engulfs a few more of the beasts. One manages to pull himself out of the mess but hardly unscratched.

He raises a hand and a glowing orb appears floating above it's clawed hand. With the other it points at Jotrex sending the orb of energy straight at him.The globe strikes the halfling dead center in his chest and he let's out a yelp as the acid burns at him and his clothes.

The two remaining kobolds stab at the dwarf with their spears hoping to bring down at least one of the party. The dwarf takes the solid blows without so much as a whimper. And although his blood is starting to flow from within his armor he doesn't stop his assault of the viscous creatures.
