Alek turns his attention away from the blazing skeleton. He runs across the room to stand by kurnos. Again he summons the frost, this time aginst the closer skeleton. The ice flys across the room.

Scowling, Chambers wipes blood from his forehead while he strikes the flare he'd pulled from his pack with his free hand. That damned rock-thrower had to go, wherever it was, and Chambers was tired of it having dark to hide in. The light from his flare casts wild shadows on the mineshaft walls while Logan hops the tracks to get a shot. This time is throw is perfect- the whirling feylights circle the skeleton and strike it from behind, sending it staggering toward the flames and playing havoc with the necromancy animating the old bones. It twitches uncontrollably, and Chambers smiles.

Kurnos moves easily past Alek and steps between the two skeletons on their side of the room. Crouching down for a moment, he leaps straight up and kicks both hooves out in opposite directions. Each skeleton is struck hard by a hoofed foot, the weaker of the two shatters under the blow while the stronger one is knocked back a step away from the minotaur who lands with the grace of a panther.

Despite her injuries, Ilse forces herself to press the attack. She's dispatched one skeleton already, and only two are left. The tiefling circles around the flaming ore to come up behind the blazing skeleton. She draws back her naginata, arcs it high into the air, and drops it down onto the skeleton's ribcage. A few bones crack under the force of the blow, and the skeleton is sent crashing to the ground - but it still crawls around, not quite defeated.

[sblock=Ilse actions / stats]No action: When Ilse is bloodied, she uses Ardent Outrage. The blazing skeleton grants CA to everyone until the start of Ilse's next turn.

"Eyes on me, Barbecue!" Boris growls as he tries to smash the downed infernal skeleton to pieces. And smash him he does though the creature refuses to release its grip on its undeath.

Crawling up the other side of the rubble pile, Zaroch turns his attention to the now-exposed rock throwing skeleton. Extending an arm, his arcane threads seek out their target, and entwine the skeleton. The undead creature suddenly leaps towards the nearest mound of burning ore, not stopping until it had clawed its way to the top.

OOC: Move: to 14N
Standard: Hypnotism vs. Skeletal Rock Thrower
Rock Thrower is slid 3 squares to L8, a square containing burning ore. I'm assuming forced movement doesn't trigger the ore's "move through here and get hurt" property, since forced movement ignores difficult terrain, and 45 points would be an absurd amount of damage to cause.

The rock thrower burns in the pile of ore. Only the blazing skeleton and the thrower remain.
The rock thrower smashes a burning rock to Kurnos, sending him reeling back, over the ore. It then moves for cover among the ore, black as onix due to the burns.
The fiery one stands up and tries to claw Boris, but its hand bashes against Boris's armor. A piece of crushed bone arcs through the air...
Everyone hold their breath as the piece falls next to the humongous pile of ore. They exhale as the bone doesn't quite reach the pile. However, the wind from the mine blows once again, making the bone roll, and touch the ore...

The huge pile sets alight, blowing the skeletal thrower in pieces. Kurnos is severely burned as well, and Logan sustain some burns from the sudden fire.

Blazing Ore: Each time the Blazing Skeleton misses, his attack will set on fire Ore piles. If a creature starts its turn or enters, a square adjacent to the ore, it takes 5 fire dmg. If it is ON the ore pile, it takes 10 fire dmg, and 5 ongoing fire dmg until it moves out of the Blazing Ore squares.

Pay attention to the map's light, coded with the color of the lines. Orange lines are for lighted areas, while black lines are for dark areas. You can't see Boris, nor the skeleton rock thrower, for example, unless you can see in the dark. Pay attention to the difficult terrain as well, rails, rubble and ore are difficult terrain, costing 2 squares of movement. The cart is blocking terrain.

MAP and COMBAT Mining problems!! sheet contains the map and references are found scrolling down a bit.

OOC: [MENTION=51271]Voda Vosa[/MENTION] , SR shouldn't have been able to both move and attack, since it was dazed. Doesn't really matter at this point.

Also if I hit with this attack, Boris won't take fire damage from BS's aura.


Chambers ends the fight with his next throw, but he can't end the conflagration. His arm trails smoke in an arc as he throws his knife end over end toward the fiery undead. The knife transforms again into a tangle of primal magic, which tears apart the last shred of necromancy holding the thing together and extinguishes its unnatural fire.

Chambers wipes soot from his face and looks around warily, re-materialized dagger at the ready.

The dagger flies true, and slays the last undead. The bones fall and the flames around them die as well. There is only the sound of the worked respiration of the heroes, and the sound of the raging fire in the room.
Remaining here would not be advisable. Some party members are also severely wounded. More darkness awaits ahead, but won't probably venture towards the blazing inferno.
What will our heroes do now?

Boris sheaths his blade over his shoulder. He takes some distance from the burning piles of ore, following the tracks back around to where the rest of the group find themselves.

"From here on in we are likely to meet more of the restless dead. As soon as we have recovered we should make use of the Sun's rod that Chambers has lit."

Boris then moves away to a not so crowded space at the edge of light and shadow where his kneels and whispers a prayer and pushes away the hurt, becoming numb to his wounds.

OOC: Taking a Short Rest I presume; spending 2 surges to take Boris back to full 6/11 surges remaining.
