IT'S TIME TO FACE THE MUSIC! VOTING IS NOW OPEN! This is the first of five heats for EN World's brand new song competition, BATTLE OF THE BARDS. Throughout October, more than twenty singers and songwriters submitted songs about RPGs. YOU will decide who wins the prize - an animated music video of their own!

Each of the five heats will last for one week. You are encouraged to vote, share the videos, and get your friends to vote. It's simple: the highest number of votes wins. The winners of the five heats will then battle it out in the BATTLE OF THE BARDS FINAL in December.

So, without further ado, here are the contestants in the first heat. Good luck! Feel free to comment on the entries, below.

[h=4]Notes[/h]
These entries have been arranged in heats randomly with the following exceptions: where a contestant has entered more than once, we have attempted to place their entries in separate heats.

Contestants retain all ownership and copyright regarding their works. They have non-exclusively licensed EN World to display their entries.

The winner of the prize - an animated music video (no, that's not it above: we'll be creating a much better one with the winner's input) will own all copyright to that video with the caveat that they non-exclusively license EN World to display it.

Voting totals are displayed publicly.

I've made it halfway through until youtube puked out on all the videos on the page.

I am impressed that Morrus' crew took the time to wrap each song with an intro and animated framing. Nice touch.

I've got my current vote in mind, but I need to finish watching the last 2 vids.

My friend Karen sent me the link to the Battle of the Bards because I've been writing songs about my friends' D&D games for about 12 years now. And I have just released a CD of them. So it seemed like a beautiful example of synchronicity.

Also, the Muse campaign I've been running using D&D 3.5 has just hit a point where the players (Having reached 9th level) have decided they want to go somewhere very different in my campaign world than I expected.

It's pretty cool they've decided they want to liberate their colonies from the empire. Unfortunately, the empire has up to now only existed as 'that place beyond the mountains.' So, now I get to create and empire.

I've been having a bit of writers' block. I'm hoping reading the discussion board will help.

BTW, welcome to ENWorld!

Some folks lurk for awhile before siging up. It's cool that you jumped into the contest, and stayed for the discussion.
