I have a hard time seeing Bruce Lee as Lawful either. Alignment restrictions are definitely a deal breaker for me.What genius decided to bring back Monks being Lawful Only? Thereby eliminating Jackie Chan, amongst other things.
Well, yeah. It's just a first draft that they spent a few hours polishing up; it's not going to have a butt-ton of content....the monk doesn't even get to choose a maneuver (or ANY other class feature) until 4th level...he's got Ki powers...except that he can only use it for the bleh Stunning Strike...the flexibility of the class is limited...just begging for further subdivision: monastic schools...
Jackie Chan is not a monk, he's a performer--he trained at a drama school, not a monastery. Why would he be a Monk? What genius decided to bring back Monks being Lawful Only? Thereby eliminating Jackie Chan, amongst other things.

Because the idea of a martial artist who improvises weapons, does acrobatic tricks, and handles hordes of ninjas is awesome and probably a good goal for monk design?Jackie Chan is not a monk, he's a performer--he trained at a drama school, not a monastery. Why would he be a Monk?
That does sound like an awesome character, but I wouldn't call it a Monk. The Monk is a very strong archetype involving mysticism and life-force and so forth. I absolutely think you should be able to have a Jackie Chan-type character, but I don't think it should be called Monk.
