"When a decades-old secret is exposed, an unassuming local tavern-owner and a close friend of the PCs discovers her birthright is to rule one of the ancient Dragon Empires of Tian Xia: the empire of Minkai. Yet the current ruler of this empire, the mysterious and increasingly cruel Jade Regent, has no intention of giving up his hold over the throne. In order to save Minkai from a would-be tyrant, the PCs must not only escort their friend from Varisia to Tian Xia, braving the frozen horrors of the Crown of the World, but must aid her in gaining the trust and support of a nation on the edge of anarchy."

This is the new recruiting, info, discussion, and notice-posting thread for my Pathfinder campaign running the Jade Regent Adventure Path. The game runs Sundays at 12 noon Pacific time until 4 pm Pacific time (western U.S.), over the OpenRPG virtual tabletop program using the Unshaped server (server address is unshaped.net:6774). The OpenRPG forums are only partially functional now so I'm moving the old thread to here. At this point we've just completed part 1, The Brinewall Legacy, and we're beginning Jade Regent part 2: Night of Frozen Shadows.

The current party roster is Farn Tallwood (male human ranger), Galadlaure Suvoni (female elf wizard), Kinuko a.k.a. "Nicky" Kaijitsu (female human paladin), Theron the Thoughtless (male human ninja), and Wilorin (male aasimar cleric of Desna). One new player should be joining today to replace a recent dropout. Our group is FULL right now but there's always a slim possibility of someone needing to drop out at some point (3 people dropped out early on and were replaced), so this is where I'll post any recruiting notices IF we end up with an opening in the group.

Current setup: 4th-level, Medium XP Progression, 25-point-buy ability scores, originally max starting gold by class and now just standard wealth by level, max HP for 1st-level, rolled HP after that, 2 Character Traits for each PC (one from the Jade Regent Player's Guide, one other from the PRD), 1 Hero Point for each PC at character creation, and PCs start with a Relationship Score of 4 + their Charisma modifier with whichever major NPC is linked to that PC's Campaign Trait.

Background (Brief):
Galadlaure Suvoni has spent most of her decades-long childhood living in Sandpoint. The speed at which the other children of sandpoint matured made it difficult for her to feel connected to the townsfolk around her, and she threw herself into books, which were the same every time she read them, and yet revealed more about herself and her world each time she did so. Still, the human children of Sandpoint could be cruel, chanting "Galadlaure, Galadlaure, head's always in a story." The nickname "Story Laure" has stuck with her.


Her nose alway in a book, she hardly even noticed the excitement of the townsfolk as the Swallowtail Festival approached. Bored with the mayor's speech, she began once again pouring through one of her favorite volumes, walking heedlessly down the street when the goblins attacked the town. It was only the diligence of the local heroine Shalelu that saved her from a goblin's horsechopper. Shalelu pulled her out of the way, finishing the goblin with one mighty blow and advising Galadlaure "If you don't learn to pay attention to the world around you, all the knowledge in those books won't save your ass. And the next time this happens, I won't either."

Something awakened in Galadlaure, a bit of maturity that hadn't fully formed until her life was threatened in such a sudden and unexpected way. She decided that Shalelu was right, it was time for her to start paying attention to the dangers of the world, learn how to avoid, control, and overcome them.

That's fine, Reckless. I've cancelled my games for this week, so we won't be playing this Sunday. Besides the fact that I'll be busy for part of Easter, I'm having a bad week and haven't been able to focus on game-prep or running games, too many aggravating things this week.

In case anyone's interested, we're open to recruitment again to fill 1 or 2 open slots in the party. They just recently arrived in Kalsgard, de facto capitol city of the Linnorm Kingdoms, starting the adventure "Night of Frozen Shadows," part 2 of the Jade Regent Adventure Path. So it's a suitable place for them to pick up one or two new allies. The current active party is an elf wizard (diviner/foresight specialist), a human ranger, an aasimar cleric of Desna, and a human ninja. We also have a now-inactive paladin and fighter, with the paladin remaining part of the caravan as an NPC (though her player may be rejoining the party at some point when back from overseas, which would bring the paladin back to active status), while the fighter will be dropped from the group if his player doesn't return soon.

Any new PCs would enter at 4th-level with 9,000 XP (medium progression) and 6,000 gold pieces worth of starting wealth.

Sure, take a look at the character creation guidelines above and work on a character, then submit it here. I'll post the sheet format later, but you could copy and edit the sheet Reckless posted above. HP rolls would be handled on OpenRPG in front of me. The Jade Regent Player's Guide PDF is downloadable for free on Paizo's website, and has a list of the Campaign Traits that PCs must choose from in a Jade Regent campaign (you get 1 Campaign Trait and 1 other Trait from the Advanced Player's Guide or the online PRD). At this point the Younger Sibling campaign trait would be unavailable, since the party already has a Younger Sibling of Ameiko and a Younger Sibling of Shalelu, and they're no longer in Sandpoint.
