Hr. He doesn't present the exact legalese (at least in that first post), and I'm not sure I trust his reported interpretation - it may be correct, or it may be incomplete....

I could easily imagine that if WotC has a giant monster combat game, this guy's giant monster combat game could be in violation of copyright, other than just that word.

Yeah, he actually says that WotC claimed a violation over the "copyright" of the term "Kaijudo", which makes little sense. If WotC was claiming violation based on that name, the complaint should be based on trademark, not copyright. If they're actually claiming copyright violation, they're probably going after the game itself, not the name.
