Opinions on Char Creation

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, or if this topic has been covered very recently (if it has, please point me that way if you remember where it is).

What type of stat creation system do you prefer to use in your campaign, and why? I'm mostly looking for input on 25, 28, 32 pt buys, the Standard Array, and 4d6 drop lowest. Which ones work- which ones should be avoided? Why?

Personally, I really like point buy. It puts everyone on equal ground, and prevents the poor schmuck with crappy rolls and the godlike character with awesome rolls.
