Sim waits for them but moves down the stairs to get a peek of what lies ahead.

You finish your descent and find yourself in a sort of vast, sprawling and desolate but once grand set of gardens and grounds.

Among the dead trees, black ice, random bones, paranoia inducing ruble there are various walls, arches, openings, etc.

So you may have to start thinking about where you are going.

Sim will silently signal back to the others to keep quite (assuming Forge does not trip down the stairs). If available, he looks for cover and slowly moves (avoiding the rubble) to get a better look at the gardens and grounds. Are there any paths that look like they lead to a structure of any sort or possibly to that black, stormy, shape we saw in the distance before? Does he see any the human tracks?

Forge will follow Simorai down the stairs into the courtyard. Are there any markings on any of the arches or other openings? Any colored lights etc?

It seems that most details have long since weathered to mere bumps and cracks.

Is that the looming shape above, the tracks leading there?

I assume you start to cautiously move forward, and maybe take 10 on some skill checks.

You weave your way through the courtyards and dead gardens, occasionally getting a glimpse of the looming shape above and the strange storm centered on it.

You see additional signs of struggle. After the tracks run into (what is now) a pile of bones, the prints become fewer and harder to follow. Fortunately, the great looming shape is clearer, and it looks like you can start ascending towards it.

We continue to examine and search the surrounding while moving toward the shape. Can we make out any details of the shape?

In a hushed voice, Forge, where has the Halfling disappeared to again? Last time I saw him he was talking to himself something about “his precious.”

OK, but we need to stay focused. There is no time to dally with small, insignificant things. At least you have shown some good sense not to be constantly running off to polish your small hand axe.
