"I think you're getting ahead of yourself," Thorn says. "We don't even know if they're in there. All the other old safehouses were abandoned. I'll be back in a minute or two."

She gave Banaq a wry smile. "Don't worry. You'll have your chance to shine."

Then she ducked low and flickered away into the grey rubble that peppered the streets, towards the tower.

(testing the die roller - woo hoo! That's stealth by the way)

Denir watches Thorn leave and turns to Sheldon. "Is planning the assault getting ahead of ourselves? Fortune favors the bold and the prepared yes?"

Banaq just rolls his eyes at Thorn's comment and inspects his fingernails to see if they need a trim.

Thorn soon disappears into the shadows. She finds a rubble field north of the tower and only one door. The bulk of the tower has been sheared away. There are no windows on the remaining ground floor. The walls are now only about 12 feet tall and she suspects that the inside may be open to the night sky.

Isolde Lianne Faithborne : Cleric/Hierophant of Sarenrae

As normal when talking strategy the young woman stayed out of it. She checked over her equipment and noted that all was in place. She just smiled as the others discussed tactics and strategy. She preferred to be ever vigilant in case trouble cropped up and her healing skills were required. She could feel the new strange surge of mythic power within her and wondered how this would change her life.

[sblock=Appearance]Isolde is a rather tall human female at just over six feet. She wears a breastplate over her clothes, carries a large metal shield, has a scimitar at her belt, a silver holy symbol of Sarenrae about her neck and a back pack on her back. The shield and armor are made of mithral and the scimitar is made of cold iron.

"Once Thorn returns we can get a full picture, but one of us may need to approach the door with the password. Whether that is to infiltrate or merely open the door for the assault will be determined "
Should we draw straws?

Thorn crouched low behind a fallen rampart near the tower. She didn't hear anything right away, nor did she see the telltale flickering gleam of firelight within...but all that proved was that if there was anyone inside, they weren't complete idiots. She had to get closer.

Picking her steps carefully, she wove through the rubble to the tower wall, then followed it around. Ears pricked and eyes sharp.

The uneven rubble required a lot of her concentration, but eventually the sound of voices reachss her ears. At least two or three are speaking in low tones within the walls. Their words are not clear, but someone is speaking.

'Keva crouches with the others, absently running fingers along the finely grained wood and horn of the great bow that is his constant companion. The old dwarf has become known to his companions as contemplative and reserved rather than dour, and during their sojourn beneath the besieged city his was often the voice of reason when stress and strong wills led inevitably to strife. Now he chooses to hold his peace and wait for Thorn's return. Long habit led him to worry; in his life before his capture he was the guide, the one who did the scouting to keep his charges safe as they traveled out of the Worldwound. But he'd grown to trust the taciturn woman - her skills were excellent, and she was eminently practical when it came to assessing the enemy's strengths and weaknesses.

So for now at least, he waits patiently and stays alert both for Thorn's return and for any other approaching danger.

(Does it bode well or ill that my first roll of the game is a natural 20? Time will tell . . .[/sblock]

[sblock=Appearance]'Keva is built fairly typically for his race - just under four and a half feet tall, and weighing in at a couple hundred pounds. He dresses simply in serviceable trousers and shirt, and travels light. Time has taken the hair from his head, but left him his neatly trimmed beard. Prior to the events under Kenabres he was ancient in appearance, but his Ascenscion at the hands of Iomedae restored his youthful vigor . . . save for his pate and beard, the one of which remains hairless and the other silver gray.

Like many of the others who fell beneath with him, he is quiet - but his is more the calm patience earned through living a full life, of experiencing the best and worst and coming out the other side. He is serene, rather than dour and taciturn like many of his race. (As I write this I keep thinking, "Jimmy, some of it's magic, and some of it's tragic/but I've had a good life all the way . . .").

Thorn pauses when she hears the voices and marks the difference sounds. Not enough though...they're talking in low tones, and the echoes around the stones make it hard to make out. There could be more who are silent.

Slowly she edges around the tower more, seeking an old window, or hole, that she can look through to get a better idea of who and what is in this place.

(I'll assume stealth and perception...if you need anything else, let me know.)
