X-Wing Minis

It's been out for about two years now and still going strong. I would like a few more people to play against as I don't get to play enough. I don't do tournaments so I'm not as concerned with the meta game that gets a lot of talk on line. I need to try out more squads to fine a favorite.

Yeah, I bought into it pretty heavily for that first year, and haven't been able to convince anyone in my group to give it a second play.

I bought the game when it came out, but just got to play my first game this March. Really like it, but wrangling someone with time to play with it has been difficult - I've only played about 4 games so far.

I didn't buy into it, but a friend did. We've played a few times, but at this point I'm a bit overwhelmed by the number of available models, pilots, and tech cards.
So, I guess you have to invest both money _and_ time in it to play it well.

Squad building can be a pain. What I've done is on note cards write down different squad options that work pretty well and use a variety of ships. If you want to fly all X-wings use this one. If you want to try out the Falcon with some support ships then this one. If you want to use Imperial ships that dance all over the board use this one. It makes the decision making go faster especially for friends new to the game.

You should put those up on the internets so that lazy people like me can steal your brilliant ideas.

The first one is not a tournament list. It is three x-wings from the base set and the X-wing expansion so I imagine most people would have them. Some of the upgrade cards are from newer ships but if you don't have them just make a proxy of it on a note card. I like the attack power of this squad

Wedge
--R7-T1

Luke
--R2D2
--Engine Upgrade

Biggs
-- R5D8
--Hull Upgrade

Wedge you want him near the enemy so he can use the R7's ability to get a target lock and a boost. With the Boost hopefully you can get within 1 range of the enemy for the extra attack die. Then spend the target lock to reroll dice as needed while the target rolls one less defense die because of Wedge's ability.

Luke has some good maneuverability with the Engine upgrade that helps him since he already has a built in small focus ability. Plus with the boost action from engine upgrade it helps him move around when he is taking green maneuvers so R2D2 can increase the shields.

Biggs job is to get in close and take as many of the enemies fire as possible. I give him the extra hull so he can last a little longer and with some luck from R5D8 the ship can be repaired.

Another non tournament squad I like for the Imperials is a little tough to fly. This can be fun with extra asteroids on the board to fly around.

Darth Vader
--Engine Upgrade

Sootir Fel
--Push the Limit

Whisper
--Veteran Instincts
--Advanced Cloaking Device

This squad is high on maneuverability but low on taking hits. The idea is to avoid the firing arcs of other ships while getting in close to do extra damage.

This one is a work in progress. It works okay but I might be doing too much with it.

Ibtisam
--Push the Limit

Kyle Katarn
--Recon Specialist
--Moldy Crew

Garven Dreis
--R5 P9

Tala Squadron

The main idea is passing focus tokens. In combat since all but the Tala are six pilot skill you choose to have Garven go first and if he spends his focus token he passes to Ibtisam. Ibtisam with push the limit should have stress so she gets a reroll and with the focus token hopefully she hits a little harder. Kyle just gets focus tokens and passes them out to people in range that need them. If Garven can't doesn't spend a focus in combat because of great die rolls then he can use the R% P9 unit and then get the focus token back to Kyle. The Tala is just there for another ship.
