D&D 5E Lost Mine of Phandelver

Mina was curious about why they had stopped all of a sudden- but then, Mina was curious about a great many things, and had been throughout the entire journey so far. What is your name? What do dwarves eat for breakfast? Is it true they eat rocks? Have you heard the song of Filuriel and the Elven Knight? Have you heard the coastal variation of that song, where the "knight" is a pirate captain?

But a quick glance showed that whatever was up ahead, it wasn't moving. And from the look of things, almost everyone else was looking forwards, towards whatever it was... Had Laucian said something about a horse, and arrows? If there was a horse full of arrows, shouldn't there be carrion birds, like in Twa Corbies?

Mina shifted her bow to a ready grip, and nocked an arrow, as she stepped forward and put her back to the wagon. Her gaze swept the sides of the trail, and back down the path they had just come from as she looked for any sign of motion, any hint of something strange.

Laucian and Amron are quick to realize that the horses belonged to Gundren Rockseeker and Sildar Hallwinter, their employer and his companion.

When Laucian moves forward to take a closer look, he notes that the saddlebags have been looted and there are drag marks leading into the thickets on the northside of the road, as if two bodies had been dragged off.

At that moment, however, Mina notices four goblins, two on each side of the road, getting ready to ambush the group.
