Tired of how simple and easy Pathfinder is? Want to spice up the game with an extra helping of high-power and high-fantasy over-the-topness? Mythic Adventures is the book for you. Make everyone at the table feel like a demigod, create unique and challenging monsters, and generally have a wicked good time. Sure, you'll have a bunch more rules and powers to track as a player and a DM, but if that bothered you, you wouldn't be considering this book right? Well organized and well written, this book is chock full of enough crunch and fluff to satisfy the most discerning of power-gamers. Get to it.

These rules give structure to high-powered characters and games, and make them playable.

For those who think Paizo never has done anything original for D&D, think again! This module does exactly that. It lets you play powerful legendary heroes at any level! Yes, you do not need to wait for level 20 to become epic. Mythic tiers can be added to any character at any level. Even if you do not want PCs to become more powerful or add to the PF math, Mythic rules lets you refresh old monsters by giving them new abilities. A must buy.

Mythic adventures tries to move Pathfinder into Hong Kong and Anime action movie territory but Pathfinder is not the right framework for this - something lighter with less bookeeping works better. The rules given are not terrible, but neither are they Pathfinder. A use for this book was recently suggested: fir GMs tgat enjoy single bosses that can challenge whole teams of heroes alone, this can work as NPC-only rules. If you Really like the minuteae of Pathfinder AND anime-style over-the-top action, this is for yiu. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Beware!
This book is gorgeous, and the power it offers to the players is very tempting.
But if you use it in your campaign, it'll break your game, as the rules are so broken, that the players after Tier 2 will become invincible. They will easily crush any opposition, including Demon Lords and other Big Bads.
One of the absolute worst aspects of the ruleset is that, when a character gains Mythic powers, it is MUCH EASIER to gain experience, so he will gain normal and mythic levels FAST.
So, to make this book remotely useful, you have either to limit your players to Mythic Tier 2 or less (so what's the point of going mythic?), or LIMIT IT TO MONSTERS AND NON-PLAYER CHARACTERS (I personally suggest this course of action - but again, no need for this book in the first place).

To make matters worse, the book completely misses the point of a Mythic style of play. For the authors, Mythic equals more powerful. That's silly. Mythic is when the players do some earth-shattering thing, or when they mess with archetypal beings and situations; in any case, there is no need of being more powerful.
As a consequence, an already crunchy game as Pathfinder becomes even more crunchy! What-a-nightmare!

So, if I was to consider this work as a gorgeous collectible, or as a rule system RESERVED FOR NPCs, I'll give it 2 stars.
But with this Paizo lost a wonderful opportunity, and built a rule system that destroys your game when you use it. So, 1 star.
