Colden

Eyeing the abandonded marketplace with open avarice, Colden suggests "We should probably check here for anything we might be able to use. I't might even be able to suit as a safe place if required?"

Fulgrim nodded sagely. "Only two doors and what appears to be plenty of material to barricade one of them if we so desire. I believe you are on to something, Master Warrior."

Removing a torch from his pack, the dwarf mage lights it using a blast of magical fire and starts to inspect the northeast quadrant of the room. He muses aloud, "We may want to move the debris to the eastern wall as we inspect the room to make sure we've left nothing unturned."

OOC: Wisdom (Perception) Check
[roll0]
If Intelligence (Investigation) is applicable here, use that instead. +3 to the above roll.

Additionally, if Fulgrim's Detect Magic is still up, he'll use that to scan the room.

[sblock=Detect Magic]Detect magic is a concentration-based spell that lasts ten minutes. The group has explored two antechambers, checked for traps, picked up a tome, encountered Roscoe, and fought off three giant beetles. All of that probably took more than ten minutes. Question: Fulgrim fired off two magical bolts during combat...wouldn't combat and/or casting a new spell cut off the concentration required to maintain detect magic?[/sblock]
Fulgrim sets about pushing ravaged vendor stalls out of the way and commences investigating the northeastern quarter of the room. The room is fairly well picked-over, but he finds a bolt of grey silk. The outer layer of the bolt is covered in mud, but the rest of the bolt of silk looks to be unspoiled, once the outer layer is peeled away. There is a crate of clay pots nestled in individual beds of wood shavings, but every single one of the pots is broken. Fulgrim also finds a black metal bell that is dinged on one side and has no clapper, and rather a lot of broken bits of tile strewn across the floor. Several broken wooden planks might make for an impromptu stake or a weapon in a pinch.
[sblock=Investigation]In this situation, searching the vendor stalls for phat loot is more in the nature of an Intelligence (Investigation) check than it is a Wisdom (Perception) check, so Fulgrim's +3 bonus applies.[/sblock]
Colden searches, too. He finds a metal cyclinder open on both ends, a sheet of music, and a chipped stone tablet with funny looking runes.

[MENTION=6787159]Skarsgard[/MENTION], specify where and how Colden searches, please, and make an Intelligence (Investigation) check. [MENTION=24609]Strahd_Von_Zarovich[/MENTION], make a Wisdom (Perception) check.

Fulgrim places the items he recovered at the center of the room. Most of it appears to be trash, with the possible exception of the bolt of silk cloth. He hoped the others are more successful in their searches. Once the room is searched, he plans to recast his spell of magic detection if the party is willing to wait.

[sblock=Concentration Spells]
OOC: Concentration spells seem to end under four conditions:
1) The duration expires, if it has one
2) The caster chooses to drop the spell for some reason or is forced to due to being incapacitated/killed
3) The caster takes damage and fails a Constitution check (DC = 10 or half the damage, whichever is higher)
4) The caster casts another concentration spell

So you can still cast spells while maintaining concentration on a spell, as long as none of the following spells are concentration spells. The rules are on pg. 80 of the Basic Rules PDF

Moving to the far side of the marketplace, Colden starts stifting through the debris. Using his handaxe he moves things around to get a better look.

[sblock=ooc] got a total of 2 for my check :p [/sblock]

Agreeing to Fulgrim's suggestion of searching the room and piling the debris against the eastern wall, Guran inserts his still-burning torch into the sconce in the eastern wall, then moves to the southeast corner of the room and starts going through the debris there, the better to avoid piling debris on top of an unsearched area. ("The unexamined error is not worth searching?")

Guran has Prof. at Investigation, but +0 INT modifier:
Result = 6 according to Coyote Code:
82221 Guran searching market debris 2015-02-19 10:57:37 1d20+2 1D20+2 = [4]+2 = 6

Roscoe watches the darkened corridor and as much of either hallway as he can while the others search the mud-strewn room, but sees and hears nothing. For the moment, all appears quiet.

Inside the room, Colden, Fulgrim, and Guran search for anything of use or value, but come up empty-handed. Other than the bolt of fine grey silk found by Fulgrim, and the possibility of using the room for a place of rest, the room is a bust.

Is the door to the room through which you guys entered still open, or did you close it?

"Well, that's disappointing, but not altogether unsurprising." Fulgrim said, a note of sadness in his voice. He picked up the rune-inscribed tablet and the sheet of music with interest, wondering whether they had been lost to time. Returning them to the pile, the wizard said, "Are we ready to press on or should we take a break? My spell to detect magic has sadly expired, but I could recast it given ten minutes."

OOC: I don't think we've closed any doors that we've opened so far. I believe Roscoe is guarding the door from which we entered. If we decide to rest, we'll probably close the door.
