Ru sighs.

"Okay, so maybe I should have kept the bow out, after all," he mutters, then shrugs.

"Giant pork incoming, folks!" he calls out. "Giant pork with tusks, which also seems not at all pleased that I've called it pork."

The ranger hunkers down, blades ready, eyeing the trees and buildings for appropriate cover.

[sblock=ooc]I did say he's swap to Wakizashi if he was scouting, so I'll stick with it.

Surprise round is one move or one standard, yes? He's still a level short of being able to Study as a swift action, so he'll take a move action to get the bonus vs. piggy. Hopefully it's far enough away that he doesn't wind up skewered for the preparation. :)[/sblock]

The dire boar charges out of the building toward Ru, bellowing in porcine rage. Behind it, there are answering squeals as its two packmates emerge from the deeper recesses of the dairy.

Combat Map

[sblock=Combat Info]Boars win initiative. Boar 1 uses a full action to run toward Ru. It also becomes clear to everyone that there isn't just the one dire boar.

Forgot to mention, the brown spots on the maps are trees, which will keep the boars from charging. The grey lines are low stone walls. They will cost an extra 5' of movement for players to cross, but you doubt that the giant boars will be hampered by them.

Party is up.

Boar 1: Uninjured. AC 15, Touch 9, FF 15, CMD 20.

Iago’s eyes widen at the sound of more boars from inside the building. Ru is beyond his reach, but he knows he has to intercept these other threats. He charges around the corner, falchion at the ready, but comes to an abrupt halt at the sight of the massive beast.

His fingers go to his belt and emerge with a small clay vial. In a practiced move, he bites the index finger of the hand holding the vial, his massive incisors drawing a drop of blood. As it oozes into the porous cap of the vial, he throws.

The vial strikes the boar’s flank, exploding in a viscous mass that seems to flow over the creature before abruptly hardening to a slick wet goo.

“That won’t hold it long!” Iago warns the others.

[sblock=OOC]The boar failed the saved and is stuck. The other one will be able to squeeze by, but at worst this will prevent a charge and cost it some movement. At best it will take -4 penalty to attack and AC due to being squeezed. It depends where it ends up. [/sblock]

"Watch the tusks!!!" Tsaaruk yells as he goes over the wall, wolf hide flapping behind him he quickly moves to intercept anymore beasts that might be in the building. With hammer and shield it is all he can do at the moment to place himself in the path of the beasts.

Moving after the pair of half-orcs, her horse keeping up easily enough, Pirvinia drew a flask of alchemical fire from her pouch. She wasn't going to use it yet, but anticipating the need to use it for focus of her next spell. For now, she was going to help take down the two boar still inside the building.

“That's a good idea Tsarruk! Keep that doorway blocked.”

Pointing her finger a little glowing pea flew from her finger at her spell invocation. It zipped past the half-orc warrior and the first boar. Once nearly reaching the side of the second boar, the pea detonated in a fiery explosion.

"Well, now, aren't you an eager one?" Ru says as the boar crowds in on him. "Well, at least you came close enough to dance nice and proper."

The southerner's blades flash. The boar dodges the off-hand Wakizashi's flourishes, but that only serves to open it painfully for two incisive slashes from the blade in Ru's right hand.

"Oh, you were worth every penny, now weren't you?" he says with a smile to his new weapon, now dripping with boar blood. As the boar only seems angrier with its wounds, however, Ru's celebration is short-lived.

"If you have anything that might help this little piggy fall down, Lightfoot," he calls out to Samad.

Samad rubbed his thumb upon the stitching of his magic shirt, and found his mind to clear as the world slowed down. He dug his foot into the ground as he turned, his robes billowing out. He dropped his blade and reached for his bow, nocking an arrow and drawing it back as leapt forward and whispered a prayer in his native tongue, "Oh Lord Bashu, give me the resolve to put an end to these infidels assuredly."

Ru opens up great gashes in the dire boar's side -- wounds that looks fatal but the beast is unfazed. It attempts to gore the Southerner but misses, as does its packmate in the dairy, which misses Tsaaruck. The third boar struggles against the tough webbing that holds it to the floor, but cannot find purchase.

Combat Map

[sblock=Combat Info]Horrible, horrible rolls on my end. Including the Reflex against the bomb, I made six rolls this round and none of them were higher than 7. So Boars 2 & 3 fail the Reflex save against the fireball -- okay, no surprise there. But then Boar 2 fails the strength check to break free of the bomb, and the other two completely shank their attack rolls.

Also, I rolled damage for Iago's tanglefoot bomb, which was 3d6 + 7 for 15.

Party is up.

Boar 1: Grievously injured, 34 damage taken. AC 15, Touch 9, FF 15, CMD 20.
Boar 2: Grievously injured, 32 damage taken. Stuck (2 more rounds). AC 13, Touch 7, FF 15, CMD 18.
