The heat washed over him although the flames did not find him. He could tell by the sweet smell of burned meat that the flames did find the hogs. Tsaaruk is getting used to the magical flames Privinia tosses around at will. As the flames die and the heat dissipates he can see the hog unsuccessfully attempt to gore him and he lets the anger and his god overtake him. He roars in the face of the hogs as he swings his hammer mightily once and quickly follows with a second blow. He can feel the bones breaking and flesh tearing with each hit and he senses Torglaroks approval and feels secure in his faith standing strong and alive in the moment.

In the face of the horrific assault by Tsaaruk, Iago moves with grim calm to drop his falchion and draws his bow. He aims carefully and fires an arrow into the trapped boar as it squeals and rages against the tentacles encasing it. It sinks deeply into the beast's flesh.

He looks up at the sorceress astride her horse. "Help the others," he advises. "We'll finish up here."

Another arrow took flight, this time from Samad's bow, and pierced the great pig's hide. Shrieking, it stopped only momentarily to see where this new pain had come from, but it was still enough time for another of the nomad's shafts to strike it where it stood.

"Oh, well done, Lightfoot!" Ru calls as Samad's arrows sink deep in pigflesh. Ru's own blades flash wildly. While not as successful as his previous attempts, he does manage to score one more slice in the boar's hide.

Pirvinia paused from casting another spell as the half-orcs both started handling the two boars inside the building. One was down and the other was stuck and badly injured.

Across the way, Ru and Samad appeared to have finished off the remaining one as well.

“Well, I think they have everything taken care of too. Nice work everyone!”

Tsaaruck's mighty blows shatter the skull and ribs of the mighty beast. It staggers ... and then suddenly lunges forward and gores the half orc, too stubborn to die.

Samad's arrows pierce the another boar through the heart -- a perfect strike. Like its packmate, it refuses to die and it lunges for Ru, but the Southerner manages to cut a tendon and send it crashing to the earth, where it shudders and begins breathing its last.

The third boar bellows mightily and tears itself free of the glue holding it to the floor.

Combat Map

[sblock=Combat Info]I think Tsaaruck was attacking Boar 3, not Boar 1. That's where I've put the damage, which is lethal damage. However, dire boars have the ferocious quality, so it is bleeding out but still fighting. Dire boar HP is 42, and it will fight to -17. It attacks Tsaaruck and hits for 20 points of damage.

Samad and Ru do enough damage to Boar 1 to kill it AND make it stop moving. Its corpse counts as difficult terrain.

Boar 2 makes a Strength check to get free.

PM, you can make roll acid splash rolls in your next post, since I don't think it would affect this round of combat.

Boar 1: Dead, 64 damage taken. AC 15, Touch 9, FF 15, CMD 20.
Boar 2: Grievously injured, 41/(42+17). AC 15, Touch 9, FF 15, CMD 20.

Tsaaruk feels the boar tusk tear his skin and uses the pain to fuel his rage. He recognizes the boars fight for what it is and he admires the ferocity and tenacity but only one of them can be still standing in the end and he will be the one. Tsaaruk calls out to his god for aid in bringing down this mighty boar, the sound is closer to a beasts howl than a mans call to his god to the others about as he returns the boars attack with his own connecting solidly a devastating blow that upon impact delivers a fiery flash, the answer of a god to the warriors call. Tsaaruks second swing misses its mark as the boar falls before him.

Iago pulls a flask from his belt and slides it along the shaft of his arrow, leaving a gelatinous coating that glints in the sun. Then he knocks the arrow and sinks it deep in the beast's flesh. It screams as the flesh around the wound sizzles.

Samad turned, raising his bow high over his head, drawing an arrow to it while bringing it down in a graceful arc. It was a distance, and the boar was enshrouded by the shade of the building in which he stood, but while a man might not be able to make out even basic shapes, it was no match for the elf's eyes. Releasing it, he quickly drew back another. While the pig squealed and roared and readied for a charge, Samad's second arrow flew forth like the fury of Bashu himself, not stopping short once it found eye.

Pirvinia had used a minor cantrip to burn a boar with acid, but it was only a drop in the bucket compared to the damage the others were doing with arrows and melee weapons. The large wild pigs had looked nearly dead, but kept fighting on ferociously anyway. Her paltry acid spell did not more than just tick one of the creatures off.

Getting ready to use a more potent spell, Pirvinia realized it was not going to be needed. Even as the boars were fighting past being fatally wounded, her companions kept at it and the battle was over within a few moments of starting.

“I am sorry about not being more help after my fireball. But I really could not have stopped that fatally wounded boar from goring you, Tsarruk.”

“We might not have found the cheese, but we have some ham now.”


[sblock=OOC Note]Had I known the battle was going to have 2 boars standing, I probably would have used a Scorching Ray instead of Acid Splash. But it would have been unlikely to prevent Tsarruk from getting injured regardless and not changed the battle’s outcome.
