Aspect ratios!

The fact that nearly every image on the front page of enworld.org is stretched either horizontally or vertically makes the front page look terrible. Please, please either crop images to something that fits your predefined image thumbnail size, update the software so that it does proportional resizing and padding, or just make it so that not every thumbnail has to have the same width! Right now, the images on the front page look it more like a Christmas letter from one of your older relatives who knows just enough about a computer to do things poorly than it does like one of the preeminent RPG news sites on the web.

Well, to be fair, I *do* only know just enough enough about computers to do things poorly!

I can't rewrite the software. Generally speaknig, the software just shows the first image in the article.

Hmm... is there a way to manually give it a thumbnail image to use?

Is this standard software? I wonder if there's a setting somewhere.
