Aelspeth smiles nervously, studying the faces of those around and across from her. She's not been out to sea in decades, and never on this plane. Occupying her mind, a tried and true defense against anxiety, she compares two disparities. The mutability of reality in the Outer Realms is to the rigidity of the Prime as the ocean here is to the earth. Her stomach knots as the odorous harbor sails away from her present point in the cosmos. So involved is she with these thoughts that she registers only distantly the warmth against her side. The dog's whining fails to reach her.

Darwin peeks over the side of the sling, chin resting over the taut cloth. His beady eyes remain glazed. When he slowly draws his lips away from his teeth, the expression may seem to Francis any part smile, grimace, or other.

Startled from her ruminations, Aelspeth's eyes widen and she looks about frantically. "Wait! It's likely come seeking the blood of the Sea Sprite's crew. Are you certain it considers us to be prey? We shouldn't aggravate the beast without cause. Should we?" Her hopeful tone is plagued with doubt. She grips her quarterstaff, hands passing over whorls that wore smooth long ago but are familiar to her touch. The action provides little comfort. Looking to the rest of the party, her eyes urgently question. The rubber ball formerly moving in figure 8 patterns over her head drops and ricochets to the floor of the skiff.

Happy for whatever spot is available, Tamarie settles down into whatever spot she is escorted to by one of the brothers. She fidgets with some stuff in her bag a bit waiting for departure, finally relaxing a bit and letting the crew do their jobs. However, the antics of the mutt named Mutt get her attention, causing her to come to attention and begin trying to see if she can figure out what is amiss.

On the dock, before boarding Larry, Darryl & Darryl's boat, Qalabash hands his wand of shield over to Aelspeth.

"Ah, a keen practical, tactical mind. See? You're getting the hang of it already. Use this as frequently as you wish, though 'Shield now or Cure later', I always say. And by 'always' I mean that I sometimes forget but that's why I have a cure wand, too."

Qalabash clambers into the boat and moves to the front right where he inadvertently sets the craft to wobbling. His waxen smile and stiff posture and white-knuckled grasp of the boat's side broadcasts his unease which remains until Francis John number Three (self-proclaimed Prince of Halflings) begins exclaiming about sharks. He begins muttering about sharks and boats and the folly of old men who take themselves to sea.

Arradon takes the remaining seat on the rear right side of the skiff. He'd been to sea several times on jobs in the past, but had never quite gotten his sea legs. The swaying of the skiff makes him somewhat uncomfortable, but he readies himself for whatever may come. He tosses back his hood to increase his field of vision, bright green eyes scanning the distance. Turning towards Francis Arradon calmly states, "You should leave them be, for now. Most predators won't just attack you...unless you deserve it." His signature thin smile crosses his lips, and he turns back to observing the waves.​

Aelspeth rubs gently at her forehead where the ball hit, then stoops to retrieve it and return it to her belt pouch. She scans the waters, looking for the slightest hint of a fin, and speaks sidelong over her shoulder. "Arradon, is that a hint of familiarity I detect in your inflection?" Were circumstances different, she would smirk. Circumstances, however, are not different.
