Already off balance from his attack, the boat's sudden lurching puts Arradon dangerously close to tumbling overboard. His superior reflexes allow him to grip the side of the boat and steady himself.

Leira swings the whip blade over her head, and slams it down into the shark. "Die you overgrown guppy!"

[sblock=Combat]
Urumi attack: 1D20+5 = [20]+5 = 25

Critical Threat: 1D20+5 = [11]+5 = 16

Urumi, Critical Hit?: 1D8+4 = [8]+4 = 12
1D8+4 = [4]+4 = 8

I wasn't sure if it would be a crit, so I rolled the damage as two separate rolls. :)

Stunning Fist: You must declare that you are using this feat before you make your attack roll (thus, a failed attack roll ruins the attempt). Stunning Fist forces a foe damaged by your unarmed attack to make a Fortitude saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 your character level + your Wis modifier), in addition to dealing damage normally. A defender who fails this saving throw is stunned for 1 round (until just before your next turn). A stunned character drops everything held, can’t take actions, loses any Dexterity bonus to AC, and takes a –2 penalty to AC. You may attempt a stunning attack once per day for every four levels you have attained (but see Special), and no more than once per round. Constructs, oozes, plants, undead, incorporeal creatures, and creatures immune to critical hits cannot be stunned.

Dragon Style: While using this style, you gain a +2 bonus on saving throws against sleep effects, paralysis effects, and stunning effects. You ignore difficult terrain when you charge, run, or withdraw. You can also charge through squares that contain allies. Further, you can add 1-1/2 times your Strength bonus on the damage roll for your first unarmed strike on a given round.

Dragon Ferocity: While using Dragon Style, you gain a bonus on unarmed strike damage rolls equal to half your Strength bonus. When you score a critical hit or a successful Stunning Fist attempt against an opponent while using this style, that opponent is also shaken for a number of rounds equal to 1d4 + your Strength bonus.

The combined strikes of Francis John and a very lucky Leira result in the second shark being mortally wounded. It tries to save itself and diverts its path away from the skiff, but a few seconds later it stiffens and floats along the top of the water like a buoy.

While the crew members cheer the victory, Qalabash, Tamarie and Arradon give a shout as another fin appears. The first wounded shark is making another attempt to capsize the now rocking boat.

OOC: Only Qalabash, Tamarie and Arradon can attack.

Qalabash again waits for the shark to make its charge towards their boat before lashing out with his quarterstaff.

"How close is this boat of yours, Lawrence? The sooner you get us offloaded the sooner you'll be left alone, is my guess." Translation: the soon Qalabash gets on a bigger boat the safer he'll feel.

Aelspeth, unnerved by the shark's rapid approach, she hesitates a half beat overlong and misses her chance to lash out at the shark. Fortunately, her companions compensate and the creature's blood mingles with the sea spray that mists her face with the skiff's violent rocking. "Blast!" she mutters in self-reproach. A glance over her shoulder reveals her companions and their effort to remain aboard. "Hold tight!" is all she can think to say. In a moment, she casts the sign of visions before her face. Her voice, notably more steady as she speaks the phrase of completion for her prepared spell. The young woman's eyes glow white and she casts about, seeking signs of another attacker.

[sblock=OOC]Terribly sorry, Everyone. My Internet connection was down and I can't post effectively from mobile. Aelspeth is hoping that, if the sharks are guided by some mind-altering magic, she might see the glow coming off their forms and better identify the locations and number of attackers.[/sblock]

The combined blows from Arradon and Qalabash succeed in killing the agitated shark before it could ram the skiff once more. If it were a smarter beast, it would have ignored its natural instincts from attacking from the sides and instead might have attempted a more head-on attack. Luckily, you missed disaster and no one toppled into the water to become a meal. You leave combat and two floating shark bodies behind. The sea is otherwise calm.

Aelspeth casts a spell, but it doesn't result in any positive indications of magic being used on the shark bodies or among the surrounding waters.

"Damn close that was. I need a drink, but I don't need to fall into one," Larry says after wiping his brow of sweat. The boatmen continue to move you closer to the Sea Sprite.

OOC: 2 sharks defeated, a CR 3 encounter done worth 1200XP. So far too easy. I'll up the ante soon. Update tomorrow.
