D&D 5E AOE Wiz build

I just finished building a lvl 5 wizard for a new party following a TPK in castle ravenloft. I was asked, that if I played a wizard, to focus on AOE spells. Now, as I've built the character already (Deep Gnome Evoker), I'm asking for opinions on the build and suggestions to make it better. Any and all comments are welcome!

Evocation school. No feats.

background: Sage

Spells known:
cantrip: minor illusion, dancing lights, frostbite, fire bolt
1st: mage armor, shield, ray of sickness, ice knife, alarm, thunderwave, catapult, comprehend languages
2nd: flaming sphere, pyrotechnics, misty step, mirror image
3rd: Fireball, Leomund's Tiny Hut (can't change this spell)

Any suggestions?
