If you want to play a game in the vein of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, the X-Files, Supernatural, or Scooby-Doo, this is the game for you. The game uses the Apocalypse World Engine rules. Each player selects a "Playbook" which is essentially an archetype of a type of character that you would find in the genre such as the Chosen (Buffy), the Spooky (Willow), the Monstrous (Angel), the Expert (Velma), the Wronged (Dean), the Flake (Mulder), etc. Each Playbook is very unique and gives characters fantastic roleplaying incentives. So for example, the Flake actually earns extra experience any time they listen to a plan and then don't follow it. I believe the Mundane gains experience from needing to be rescued, and the Chosen has some cool abilities related to the heavy burden that being a Chosen imposes on you. It's got lots of these great roleplaying encouragement for the players and the storyteller, but like everything in the AWE rules, it has a no-prep approach to storytelling, which requires the storyteller to always be on their toes, which can be tiring.

Like all Powered by the Apocalypse games, the use of playbooks allows player to quickly get into playing the game rather than getting bogged down in character creation. It offers advice for the GM to run monster hunter genre games.
