DT's Saga of the Dragon Cult (Standing Stones)

Deuce Traveler

Adventurer
The heroes return to the town of Hadler's Gap, carrying their dead along with them. The village-watch stands along the trail, spears in hand when they see the group walking along the dusty trail. They shout in pleasure when they recognize all of you, and soon a crowd of townsfolk gather round. Though they are saddened that not everyone returned in one piece, they are ecstatic at the cessation of the strange, chaotic activities that had been occurring. You are offered free drinks and lodging, as the townsfolk are ready to hear your tale of heroics and derring-do.

OOC: This is a continuation of Ytterman's Saga of the Dragon Cult. Roll call time before the next piece of action starts.

OOC: Scrag is here!

Despite the heroes' welcome, Scrag is given more space than the others...he is still a monster after all. It might also be because he takes up more space; he seems to have grown a bit since the group was last in town.

[sblock=Roderick?]Has anyone seen or heard anything from Helfdan lately? Is Roderick still with us and alive? Guess I forgot/missed his death. How much did that have to do with Helfdan's absence?[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]I thought Rodrick died in the final fight. We carried him out to give him a hero's funeral.[/sblock]

John walks forlornly. The loss of the town's Ogre to the black worm death hurt, but the death of a Paladin, his travel companion -their companion- hurt more. He sees his mother and father wearing well tanned bear skin capes. He approaches them. "The Ogre?" inquires his father.

John silently shakes his head and rejoins the heroes wishing he knew a funeral dirge right now.

When John's father hears the news, he's the first to give his son and party the bad news. "I'm sorry, son. Roderic was a good man, and I hope he died in peace. He's not the only death that has hit us of late. A lady missing her foot below her right ankle came into a local tavern last night, looking pale and ragged. She was asking a lot of questions about strange goings-on around here and became particularly interested when we told her about what was going on and that your group went to go looking into matters. She became animated and was keen on talking to the lot of you, but asked for a room in the night. She was found dead this morning, with a twisted dagger in her heart. Under her tunic was found a symbol with a black background pierced by three silver stars. She was a part of the good Order of the Sable March. We've got her assistant locked up for questioning. He's a tight-lipped Myashtalnder... and well, you know their reputation and why we question his involvement."

John calls out to his fellow heroes, "Grok, Scrag, Rosalia, There has been a peculiar murder, and I think we should investigate it as soon as we have place Rodrick to rest."

"Good. Grok afraid him not have enough crappy work to do for a few minutes and him might suffer withdrawal. First still need ale, though." Grok appears to be making a halting foray into a new type of humor for him -- sarcasm.

[sblock=Helfdan]Can anyone at least confirm that Helfdan is still alive?[/sblock]

Rosalia is touched by the welcome of the townpeople but very quickly tries to benefit from it. She will accept any invitations from merchants or nobles and sees what benefit she can make from this fame and new encounters. She still aims to go up the social ladder and will behave accordingly.

The story of the murder of the woman doesn't interest her greatly but she'll participate to whatever is decided.

She is keener to bury Rodéric who strangely always had a bit of a place in her heart in their adventure in this world of utter Chaos. He was a stable, reassuring and manly figure.
So she will financially participate to the burial ceremony and to the grave of Rodéric, consoling the family genuinely.
