OOC: The glitterdust spell may or may not have had direct effect. They didn't stick around long enough to show one way or another. It definitely helped drive them off.

"The glittering spell can cause blindness as well as outline the creatures with the glittering dust. My goal was take as many as possible out of the fight for a bit. With all of them retreating I think it is a good outcome. As long as they do not regroup and attack us when we are on the slippery slope ahead. Lets take it slow and carefully."

Qalabash Baram

Qalabash continued to stare up at the narrow path they would have to take to reach the ledge. They weren't even sure what they would find up there, if it were the way they needed to go or not. He sighed. They had to go up there, even if just to check.

"Perhaps, we could make it safer. Do any of you have a keen eye? Mine are a bit aged and not so good at spotting loose stones or the traps of tricky pirates. And maybe if we roped ourselves together it would save the one if one of us should slip and take a tumble. I'm a plainsman at heart and this scaling of mountains and such is not exactly within the realm of my experience. What do you think?"

The cat, Spotted Beast, rubbed its head against Qalabash's leg once more then sauntered with feline disdain to the beginning of the narrow path up the rock face. It turned its head back and twitched its tail then began its own ascent.

OOC: I was wondering if someone was going to say the magic word to solve this particular challenge.

At the mention of rope, it occurs to Cruendithas that some of the rigging still on the beach would not only work for keeping people tied together, but also to attach to the rock itself, allowing for a much easier ascent. The first part is still a bit tricky, and the hot sun is out and drying the rock off by the time Cruendithas and Qalabash get a temporary guideline set up along the entire path; between the sun and the guideline, even the dwarf is able to get up the ledge with relative ease eventually. The path itself seems to be partially created by the weather acting upon the rockface and part purposefully carved out, though the carved out sections are extremely old, and without the guideline, the less nimble of the party would have had tremendous difficulty getting past a number of spots where large portions of the path are partially worn away or collapsed. Repairing it and making it fully functional seems like a doable, if moderately time consuming, project should it be necessary if there is indeed pirate treasure waiting inside the rock.

The two smaller harpies do eventually reappear, but keep their distance from the party, concentrating on collecting firewood from the beach and carrying it up to their nest at the very top of the rock, using the fartherest out portion of the outcropping to as a stopping point where they broke up the larger pieces into more manageable chunks before taking them all the way up the rock. One of them is chopping away at some particularly long planks on the outcropping as the party finally reaches it. The outcropping is good sized, jutting out a good 40 feet from the rockface with a walkable surface ranging from 15 to 25 feet wide out to the end. The harpy stops her chopping and watches the party warily, ready to fly at the first sign of trouble. On the rockface itself there is what looks like a natural crevise that someone a long time ago widened out to be a functional opening for humans, and a narrow twisting path/cave similarly created naturally and artificially widened seems to wind down from that opening into the interior of the rock.

Tamarie the Songweaver
Watching the harpies intently as the rest of the group assists in the climbing with the rope, Tamarie keeps her crossbow trained in their direction, stepping into a clear line of sight and bringing the weapon to her shoulder whenever the distance between the two groups had grown uncomfortably close.

With her signature mixing of accents, the songweaver observes, "The harpies' continued presence is unsettling."

Wahyu had elected not to join on with the rope brigade, knowing that he would do naught but weigh the others down. As he watched the others climb, he meditated, and thought, well, perhaps he could try something new. He outstretched his arms and whispered a command. It took some chiding, but soon, he felt cold hands grab onto his, and he was pulled aloft. Slowly, he climbed, gaining momentum as more hands joined on, and it was only a few short minutes before he reached their destination. Alighting upon the cracked surface, he nodded to those that were already there, "Well, that was an experience."
[sblock=OOC]Whoops, I guess during the confusion of the holidays, I forgot what the actual challenge was. Wahyu could've just levitated up and tied off the rope. He still Levitates himself up anyway.[/sblock]

Dunkel nods towards Tamarie, but answers "More trouble than they are worth, really, and it looks like they feel the same about us about now. Let's just make sure we don't make any missteps that they can take advantage."

Feeling quite proud of himself after the group as a whole reaches the top of the rock without incident. Crue looks around taking in their surroundings. "Aye they are unsettling. We need to remember they are here when we return. It appears we go down now." He examines the path down to discern whether they need a rope to get down or possibly to get back up when the exit.

Qalabash Baram

Qalabash watches Wahyu's display of levitation magics with a tinge of awe before joining in the discussion. He nods his agreement with his companions concerning the harpies.

"I think it unlikely that they would follow us inside." He scowls. "But I wouldn't trust them not to mess with any rope we anchor near here or wedge something into the crevice. Not much we can do about it, I suspect, unless one of you has an idea that has passed me by. So, who shall go first?"

Qalabash carefully unloads his crossbow and stows it, strapping it to his pack. The Spotted Beast hisses at any harpy that shows itself.
