D&D 5E Out of the Abyss IC

Violet light suddenly limned the quaggoth attacking Solace. She and Raza the Centipede found they could see the quaggoth very well; it shed dim light in a 10' foot radius.

Solace sank the flint shard as far into the inside thigh of the quaggoth as she could, dealing 7 points of damage. The creature's life blood flowed freely from the wound, matting its fur.

Brinn surged forward across the bridge and past Kago. He attacked but missed the drow guard, who was wearing a chain shirt--if the cool metal links that Brinn felt as his open palm brushed past the guard were anything to go by.

The quaggoth clawed at Solace, missing, then clawed at Raza the Centipede, missing as well.


OOC: Both Brinn's attacks miss. :( [MENTION=40413]GlassEye[/MENTION], Raza is up! (I found giant centipede stats on Raza's sheet in the RG).

Kamael mentally prays for Solace's safety but is unable to effectively attack the quaggoth without additional material components. Realising that at some point he should remove his shackles, he rushes over to JimJar and shoves the manacles under the gnomes's face. Once freed, he moves onto the rope bridge, looking toward the second stalactite to see if the escape has attracted any additional attention.

OOC:
Since his actions don't depend on whether Raza kills the quaggoth, I didn't wait:)

End of Round 3, start of Round 4

Raza the Centipede bit through hide and sinew, dealing 3 points of damage to the quaggoth, who seemed bothered not at all by the poison.

The quaggoth inside the cell pulled at the bars. The iron of the bars broke apart under the strain, severing with a loud report. The quaggoth prisoner (Quaggoth 2) heaved to the side, exhausted. Another (Quaggoth 3) took its place at the rent bars, and reached through to claw at the quaggoth (Quaggoth 1) attacking Solace. The attacker hit for 14 points of damage. Quaggoth 1 barked in pain.

Inside the cell, His Highness Derendil migrated to the back of the cell and sat down. Kamael darted back inside the cell and shoved his manacled hands in front of JimJar. The deep gnome, who had been contemplating unshackling Buppido, reacted hastily by shoving the derro out of the way and unchaining the aasimar. Stool shuffled forward tentatively, stopping just inside the open gate. A queer sort of muffled groan came from the myconid sproutling, but the creature made no further overture to exit the cell. Buppido--who was still manacled--insinuated his way toward the gate, too. He stuck his head out a little, looked around the corner toward the north, then ducked back inside the cell.

As soon as JimJar unshackled him, Kamael nipped back outside. He stood at the junction of the rope bridge and the ledge, and peered south, trying to spot whether aggressors approached from that direction. He spied nothing in the inky dark of the outpost, nor did he hear anything other than the savagery of multiple quaggoths thumping and stomping in the northernmost cell.

Shuushar remained seated in the lotus position and began to chant softly to himself.

The drow was getting away, and the blind human stood in Kago's way like a lumbering fool. What sort of simpleton would attempt to steal a kill from a War Priest, anyway? Kago thought for a second about snapping the little man's neck, but decided the drow was the priority enemy right now. There would be time to deal with this one later...

Grunting in frustration, Kago shoved passed the human and made for the other doorway. Seeing the fleeing dark elf at the end of another rope bridge, Kago sent Gruumsh's spiritual spear streaking towards him once more, and charged across the bridge after it.

Round 4

The Spear of Gruumsh streaked down the length of the rope bridge. The tip of the weapon sundered the drow guard's clavicle, and poked its way free through the guard's back. Blood streamed in a thick rivulet down the guard's chain shirt. Kago was upon him in an instant, braining him with the club. The blow left a dent in the drow's temple, and the guard immediately crumpled to the bridge deck.

A crossbow bolt whizzed through the air, missing the quaggoth attacking Solace and Raza, and ricocheting off the cavern wall.
