Looking at the symbols on the door, Darvin sighs. "They're not the same language as the documents that gave the cypher, but it seems related. This might take some figuring out. Hang on, Tsaaruk, and I'll have which ones you are to touch and which to avoid in just a moment. We would not want you to get fried by any ancient magical trap."

When Tuvian offers to help, Darvin seems rather pleased. "Ah, a little interest, have we? Good good, here is the source document, and the comparitive runes in different languages. We need merely translate into this language, which seems closely related to column B, here..."

For those that have no interest, it seems to take forever. But for those most directly involved, it goes rather quickly. Soon Darvin is calling symbols for Tsaarud to touch. After a good 10 minutes, eventually all the symbols in the right light up and the door slides into the floor, not stopping until it is flush with the floor. Stale air wafts towards you, letting you know the place has not been disturbed in quite some time. Beyond the door is some sort of guard post, including barricades for archers. Those without some sort of augmented sight need a light to see further, darkvision or low-light vision reveal more information--there is a cabinet at the far end, built into the wall. Additionally, on the right wall, behind the barricade, a passageway with stairs heads deeper into the complex.

"Well, there you have it," Darvin begins, already turning and heading out the door, "Let us know when you have completed clearin the place out." However, despite the use of the word 'we', Jericho is already out of the cave.

For the first time since meeting him, the party sees Thuvian really focus as he gets more and more into the decoding of the cypher. He even almost seems gleeful as the door slides away into the floor, though a serious expression quickly resumes it's normal place on his face as even Thad realizes that it's time to get serious for a while. Thuvian quickly casts Mage Armor and than Detect Magic, scanning the newly found room quickly. Speaking with an attentiveness not previously shown, he is clearly ready to get down to business. "Time to get to work. I do have the ability to let a couple of folks walk on the walls if we reach a point that is viable, and I can also offer some protection against evil should it prove necessary. Otherwise my arsenal of spells is mostly environment and indirect effects, so plan accordingly. What order do we wish to proceed going forward. I would prefer somewhere near the back myself."

Pirvinia had no trouble seeing with her spell active. And with all the others being non-human, they had better vision. Though if they got deeper into true darkness, Samad would have trouble. "If we do not want to use light, I can cast a Darkvision spell on you, Samad. They you will be able to see even after the light from outside is no longer reaching to us deeper inside."

She gestured for her familiar to fly on ahead and look around. The mephit had very good defenses and could fly, so even if she encountered something she could retreat pretty quickly. "Okay, I will look," Far'ziel said excitedly.

"Just be careful and do not try to fight something. Breathe your fire and withdraw immediately," Pirvinia advised as Far'ziel flew into the room to check behind the barricades and look down the stairs.

Tsaaruk watched as the door opened. He was getting used to the magic of the world but was at times like this when there is no immediate threat, in awe of the power some could command. As Pirvinnia sent her familiar to scout he waited. Trusting in Pirvinias judgement. With a nod her way he gave her a sign he understood and would act until he was needed. He has learned some patience in his time away from the tribe. Not so long ago he would have simply charged into the haven hammer ready to strike, but this is not how his companions worked, so he waited knowing his time to move on and face whatever awaits was not so far off.

Unslinging the bow from his back, he whispered a few prayers, and felt himself bolstered and aligned with the heavens. He patted Tsaaruck on the shoulder, "I shall take the lead, if you do not mind, friend."

Pirvinia cast the Darkvision spell on Samad and now they had no need for any illumination with them. Then she added, "Far'ziel is scouting now. But if you want to accompany her, go ahead. With her speed, flying and defenses, I am not worried about her avoiding and evading trouble. And I need to heal her is a little fire, should things turn bad."

Jonas rides alongside his allies, chatting amiably and happily adding his expertise to the chore of filling in their employer's map for him. Truth be told, he's thrilled to finally be on the road again, and the notion of poking around in an ancient ruin is appealing to him. Myrtle, too, seems happy to be out of her stable and adventuring once more. He looks on with interest as Thuvian and Darvin work their way through the runes and get the door opened for the group.

"Well done, my friend, well done! As soon as little Far'ziel has completed his scouting, I believe we shall be ready to proceed."

Scouting ahead into the room, Far'zeil finds the cabinets at the far end are in poor condition, but still standing after over 2000 years. Lining the back wall (and thus, 30 linear feet worth of cabinet-work), a couple doors are ajar and she can see there is little left in it. What is left seems to be supplies for woodworking, allowing for the rebuilding of the barriers for the archers to hide behind.

Lying at the doorway out of the room is a corpse, now fully reduced to a skeleton that no longer holds form. The bones are loose and have been spread about to a certain degree already. Some clothing remnants can be seen, although whatever this person was wearing is now sufficiently broken down to make it impossible to determine what sort of outfit it was.

Beyond the doorway is a set of stairs down, leading right from your current position (eastward). They run about thirty feet before coming to a landing with a reinforced stone doorway. There is no door, and she can see somewhat into the next room, although nothing but stone floor is visible from her vantage point.

[sblock=stuff]Just let me know how you wish to proceed. The passageway is wide enough for two abreast if you want.

Far’ziel spoke in strange language in a loud whisper that carried back to her mistress. It was like no other language since it was created by the pair of them.

Pirvinia started into the chamber saying, “Far’ziel did not find anything. We can inspect the cabinets and the remains of a body. But there is another chamber at the bottom of the stairs. I will have her take a peek.”

Using the same unique language as before, Pirvinia had Far’ziel fly down the stairs to be able to peek from just below ceiling height.
