Nothing happens to Jonas as he steps into the room. He is not shot at from above, nor does anything slide out of the line of holes above. Once inside, he notices that there is a set of small symbols in a circular arrangement on the south wall, next to the weapon rack. The symbols seem suspiciously similar to the same ones on the first door.

Further, the weapon rack itself is somewhat interesting as several blades are still on the rack and ready for use. It is also immediately obvious a significant number are gone. They are shorter than a typical Venzan blade, but still seem usable, save for the obviously rotted away cloth that used to form the grips.

[sblock=Reminder]The only obvious way out is the passageway headed down, on the far wall. It is now completely lightless, with the exception of what you bring with you, if anything.[/sblock]

Pirvinia cast her cantrip to detect magical auras and surveyed the chamber. She gestured for Far'ziel to continue onward to the next opening and scout a little ahead while the rest of them examined the chamber.

While the group continued to mull over the features of the second guard room, Far'ziel continued her exploration. A short while later, she returns with a description of a large room with a high, vaulted ceiling. It has 7 ten foot wide exits including the one she entered from, four on the first floor and three on the second floor. Additionally, one seemingly normal door could be seen on the first floor and a boarded up window could be seen on the second level, overlooking the entire room. The second level has a metal lattice-work catwalk system running around three of the four walls, the excluded wall being the one with the window in it. However, there seems to be no way up to the catwalks. Finally, the 10 foot wide exits, all open and arched doorways, often have stairs leading upwards or downwards.

Thuvian examines the symbols and they do share a remarkable similarity to the symbols that were used to activate the external door. If anything, the 'trick' to these is they are considerably simpler, and more concerned with basic operation rather than security. Operators of 'up' and 'down' can be found, as with the main door. After his inspection he has a reasonable degree of knowledge about them, and operating them might be possible with some experimentation.

Jonas watches with interest as the Tiefling examines this latest puzzle, momentarily distracted from his constant surveillance of the area for danger or intrusion. A few times it appears as though the well spoken brute is about to speak, but then decides it better to allow those better suited to figuring out such obstacles to do their work. Finally, he returns to his own duties, focusing his attention back on his surroundings.

Tsaaruk watches the activity to examine rooms, and the symbols and listens to the report of Pirvinia's familiar as related by Pirvinia. Feeling a bit helpless in this current state of activity he tries to stay out of the way and only barely listens. The operation of mechanics and magic, other than abilities granted by his god, is something he has little to no interest in. His idea is shove it, smash it, move on. Knowing this type of exploration is something the group finds important he waits and looks about. Now the weapons he can at least appreciate. So he spends some time looking them over.

As Thuvian and Pirvinia maintain their interest in the strange panel of symbols, Tsaaruk turns his attention to the swords while Jonas provides an overwatch to keep his compatriots safe. Tsaaruk finds the blades to be rather interesting in terms of the differences between these weapons and the ones manufactured today. One things is obvious--the technology is pretty much on par with what is in use today. In fact, Tsaaruk is quickly convinced that they metal used is, in fact, a type of steel. This contrasts with much of the iron weaponry from the region going back 1000 to 1500 years.

[sblock=Swords]The swords don't technically have any value past normal longswords. However, they can be refinished (remove the corrosion and rebuild the grips) to advance them to masterwork quality. And, of course, they are interesting and might make for a cool home display or something like that.[/sblock]
