Zinnelis Laediril, Elven Ranger (Level 1)

Venza/North Gate

Zinnelis stood to the side of the street out of the way of traffic as he awaited the arrival of the rest of his new band of adventurers. This should prove interesting. He usually worked alone as he patrolled the roads and forests between Venza and Tritower, or north along the Silver Road. It wouldn’t be the first time he had provided assistance as a guide and escort, however.

The donkey Zinn had purchased huffed and tossed its head. “Shhhh…” Zinn reassured it, speaking Elven in low, soothing tones and stroking the beast’s neck. He adjusted the rope lead he had tied about the donkey’s head and fed it a carrot. “There’s a good girl, Jezebel,” he said.

Looking up, the elven ranger spotted the human wizard approaching atop her steed. He led Jezebel over, letting the donkey get accustomed to the horse.

“You are ready, then?” Zinn asked Levanna.

"I see the both of you have made it, and who might the rest of you be?"

The elven ranger’s green eyes slid to the new arrival, narrowing slightly. The speaker had red skin and long black hair and curling ram horns, his infernal heritage very obvious, unlike the young lady at the inn.

“Friend of yours?” Zinn asked Levanna, his eyes going to the human woman and then warily back to the tiefling. “Zinnelis Laerdiril,” he said.

Speed is 20 feet. It's not any slower than someone in armor. Or a halfling or gnome. For overland travel I don't think it makes much difference, but the GM can figure that out. It's either the mule encumbered or me! Because I can't carry 8 days of rations without becoming encumbered myself.

Autumn meets the group at the north gate, riding atop a sturdy blonde horse. She doesn't appear altogether to comfortable though, but manages well-enough. She meekly waves at Rak'tan, indicating to Zinnelis that they are companions. She takes a deep breath of breezy air outside the city, and smiles at the mid-morning sunshine. The druid is ready leave to when everyone else is.

Levanna sat atop rented horse shifting in her saddle and fiddling with the reins. The mare fidgeted beneath her. "Confounded beast..." she muttered to herself shortly before giving up.

"I am. Relatively speaking," she said to Zinnelis, keeping herself still and allowing the animal to settle on its own. "Though in horseback riding, I am a novice at best."

Levanna turned to face the tiefling approaching the group. Startled, she caused the mare beneath her to toss its head skittishly. She shook her head at Zinnelis.

"Forgive me," she said, calming herself and the animal. "I am Levanna. And you are?"

Zinnelis spotted the druid ride up on her own horse. She seemed to know the tiefling fighter, as well.

The wizard seemed to be having a bit of a problem with her feisty mount, so Zinn headed over. He put a soothing hand on its neck, petting it, and speaking quietly.

Zinn looked up as the wizard introduced herself as Levanna. “Nice to meet you, Levanna,” the elf replied. “And I hope it will be nice to work with you. We shall see.” He offered a smile. “Zinnelis Laerdiril,” he introduced himself to her and also to the druid.

Autumn meekly smiles at her new companions as they introduce themselves. She already is familiar with Rak'tan, a tiefling warrior who easily cut down several kobolds, and Arradon the elf from the Harran, who stood tall and defeated the flying-whip-dagger creature. She takes in the appearance of Zinnelis. He looks just as comfortable in the woods as herself, and wonders how good of a shot he is with his longbow. And Levanna, a human who appears to be of the same age of herself. From what she gathers, looks that of a wielder of magic. Again, her thoughts go to missing companions from the fallen kobold tower. Erin and Aelspeth. She actually realized she missed the antics of the elf's pernicious monkey, Darwin.

Autumn gets set to follow Zinnelis' lead into the open.

Each of you passed through the East Gate and over Pierinho's Folly, the bridge from the island city to the mainland, to a place just past the Grand Stable where there is room to gather without impeding traffic not all that far from Baron's Cross. Not all have arrived yet so those who have will have to wait, hopefully only for a brief period of time. As usual, there is a bustle of merchants arriving and departing with their caravans, mostly from the northern Silver Road and the Eastern Trade route but a few arriving from the south. Kingsholm lies to the north...

[sblock=OOC]First, I'm going to delay advancing the game until the weekend is past so that MerryMortician and Trogdor can get their shopping at the Pearl finished and join us before we get into the meat of the adventure. Feel free to rp amongst yourselves until I get up the update. Kahless also has limited posting on the weekends. Merry, Trogdor, please get necessary shopping done as soon as possible.

An encumbered donkey will slow the group to 4.5 days to reach Kingsholm but you all sensed no great urgency in the mission and the extra time shouldn't be a problem.

FYI, there isn't a north gate. Venza is on a series of islands with the only land access over a bridge to the east.[/sblock]
