reading adventure pdfs

i'm looking for a way to read pdfs like this and this, but just can't read hundreds of pages on a computer and have no wish to print that many pages. for a techno-newbie, what device is the best, easiest, cheapest way to read adventure pdfs?

Where do you read the most? Outdoors? In bed? When you read books, do you prefer large print? Do you wear eyeglasses? Contact lenses? How much are you willing to invest in a device? Would you like to be able to mark them up with notes?

bed, couch, or easy chair.

glasses, yes, but not for reading (at least, not yet). contacts, no.

seriously, if the device in question has no other capabilities that's ok.
