The Untamed Wilds: Caravan Campaign

With her pride still wounded over her spider freak-out, Bolo has an arrow nocked and ready to fire, keeping an eye on her surroundings.

Sannit has his spear out but is not as wary, expecting some predatory animal, maybe the cat, that killed the pig for supper and will bolt as soon as it sees the group.

CS: Sannit: -11, Bolo -8

Merin is slightly slowed for the ringing in his head, making Sheldon the only one reacting quickly enough to gage this lizard which happens to have launched itself toward Sannit. The lizard covers half the distance in one bound.

Sheldon takes a leaping step toward the lizard's trajectory.

Merin takes a leaping step toward the lizard's trajectory, but his placement within the group places him a pace still farther away.

The lizard's very quick continued motion puts him right into Sannit barreling into him with its knobby head at the same instant Sheldon tries to shove it, and Merin, forsaking any attempt to punch it, begins to concentrate, only needing to be near his target to affect it.

The animal is much heavier than expected. Sheldon is unable to move it as it slams it's head into Sannit's chest, knocking the man from his feet. Sannit is not, however, hurt from the blow.

As Sannit falls backward, the lizard whips the hind part of its body around to attempt a rear claw on Sheldon, ripping through his silk tunic and knocking the man to the ground who is significantly wounded.
GM: Sheldon: Body(10) - 7 = 3 (significantly wounded)

OOC: One second of time has passed. It is Sannit's action

Merin and Tor Enter Combat!

OOC:
Merin Combat Sequence (CS): Rolled a 9 on d10; so, (9-27)+10 = -8.
Tor CS: Rolled an 8; so, (8-25)+6 = -11.

Being only 4 paces away, Merin does not resort to the bow. He simply keeps it in his hand, as he strides forward 3 paces, and attempts to paralyze the lizard.

Tor draws his swords, and moves right up next to the lizard, swinging viciously at it.

OOC:
P.S. The laugh at Sannit's post was because we have the same initiatives for our characters!

Sannit rolls to his feet and thrusts with his spear aiming for one of the legs, attempting to slow the thing down. "I hope you taste better than the last one," he says as the spear tip strikes.

Attack: 138 (84 + 54)

In the Throws of Combat

Sannit rolls to his feet and thrusts with his spear aiming for one of the legs, attempting to slow the thing down. "I hope you taste better than the last one," he says as the spear tip strikes.

As Sannit is rising, Tor is moving in to bring his swords to bear, Bolo fires an arrow, and the lizard lunges at Bolo.

The quick movement and hardened scales of the lizard turn Sannit's spear thrust negating its effectiveness.

Bolo's arrow also bounces away, harmlessly, and as the lizard swings its head for a bite, she easily dances aside causing the beast to miss.

OOC: Two seconds have passed.

After biting at Bolo, the lizard is now sideways to Sannit, facing Aust, Revan, and Bolo, its hind quarters toward Indigo, Merin, and Tor and immediately adjacent to the fallen Sheldon. As the lizard closes its mouth, Merin finishes his concentration, Tor attacks with his sword, Indigo attacks with her sword.

Merin's attempt to stun the lizard has no effect, but he thinks the fault lies with his first attempt at distance rather than the actual affect.
OOC: poor die roll

Tor's sword blow is every bit as ineffective as Sannit's spear and Bolo's arrow.

Indigo makes a remarkably deft swing and is able to penetrate the lizards hide causing some hurt.
GM: Lizard: Body(10) - 3 = 7 somewhat hurt

OOC: Three seconds have passed.

At that instant, Aust looses and arrow, Sheldon reaches up from the ground and touches the lizard as it spins its entire body around to bite at Indigo.

Aust's arrow careens off the creature's back flying away.

As Sheldon's hand drags across the moving lizard, nothing visible seems to have happened to the lizard, but a smile crosses the injured man's face.
GM: Lizard: Essence(10) - 7 = 3 unknown effect
Sheldon: Body(3) + 2 = 5 still hurt

The lizard proves unable to bite Indigo as she dodges aside.
OOC: Four Seconds had passed.

As the lizard lands, Merin maintains his pace distance, knowing it would be futile to punch this lizard and Revan lets loose an arrow.

Revan's arrow, like the other two, bounces off the hide.
OOC: This ends the 1st Combat Sequence.

GM: Sheldon is injured.
The Lizard is hurt.
Merin, Aust, and Revan are slightly dazed.
Everyone else is fine.

GM: Everyone state intentions for Combat Sequence 2.

OOC: I will now assume 50s for any roll when having none in the post and no data in the pool.

Sannit will attack with his spear again, trying to attack a less armored spot on the body.

Bolo leaps forward and attempts to touch the lizard and command it to sleep.

GM: Something I had not considered before. Sannit can choose to concentrate, giving a bonus to his attack. The bonus would be Essence + Mind + Confluence + Will, which would be 26. It isn't much yet, but it could help. This would slow your attack by 10, though.

Uh yeah that's a huge bonus. I'll take it.

Merin will renew his focus, and try once more to paralyze the foul thing.

Tor will touch the lizard's hide with the tip of his sword, not to cut it, since the scales seem too tough, but rather, to channel electrical energy through the blade, and into the lizard's body. The sword blade will simply act as the conductor.

Merin's base roll (no modifiers) = 44
Tor's base roll (no modifiers) = 72

GM: 1) There is no longer a need to post dice rolls here. I will use the dice pool. 2) There is no need for Tor to hold back on a swing, even when manipulating way, just on the chance the blow might be affective.

Aust Thale

Adventurer
Aust & Revan Vs The Lizard

Dazed by the lizard's attack, Aust attempts to manipulate the way to bring himself back into sharp focus, acutely aware of his senses, and he attempts to silence all vibration affecting him due to emanations from the lizard.

Revan reacts defensively to the lizard as well, crouching and touching the ground in front of her in an attempt to create ripples of earth toward the lizard in a miniature super-localized wave or avalanche that will render the lizard at least unsteady and at best will flip the creature backwards and away from the party.

Assuming Aust is successful at reducing the daze enough to act, and assuming Revan is able to render her attack successfully, Aust will ferociously counterattack with his lanzita.

GM: This is a d100 system. Out of a possible 100 points, Aust and Revan are only hindered by 2. It is nothing to worry about until combat has finished.

Combat Sequence: 2

earless-monitor-lizard01.jpg

OOC: Combat Sequence:
Sheldon: 1st action using way
Merin = 1st action using way
Bolo: 1st action using way
Indigo: 1st action
Lizard: 1st action
Bolo: 2nd action not using way
Tor: 1st action using way
Indigo: 2nd action
Aust = 1st action not using way
Lizard = 2nd action
Sannit = 1st action
Revan = 1st action

Sheldon, who is still lying on the ground, attempts to slide away, moving out from under the lizard. His health improving as he does.
GM: Sheldon: Body(5) + 1 = 6

Merin has no need to move and concentrates again on paralyzing the lizard from a pace away. He finds that act requires slightly longer concentration than when applying with a touch. At the same instant, Bolo touches it, commanding the beast to sleep. The lizard, though intelligent for an animal, lacks the will to withstand the mental assault, and ceases moving, collapsing on its belly just as Sheldon pulls himself free.
GM: Lizard: Mind(6) - 20 = -14 paralyzed

GM: Merin: Mind = 8, slightly dazed
Sheldon: Body = 6, hurt
Aust: Mind = 8, slightly dazed
Revan: Mind = 8, slightly dazed

The effects of being dazed fade within a few more minutes without any need to actually tend to them. Sheldon's wound, however, is real.

GM: Everyone receives 8 xp.

Bolo lifts her hand from the creature hesitantly, as though afraid it might be faking. When it stays down she turns a delighted smile on Sannit before moving to Sheldon to aid in healing.

Sannit smiles back before looking over the lizard looking for a place to put his spear tip so that it will not rise again. "I'm sure we'll want to carve up this beastie like the last one. I had no idea the wilds were this crowded. We might have to go back to town to unload before we set out after these tribals again."
