Womford
Day 4 Early Evening

Your party bids farewell to the aarakocra, they offer you a small gift of food. It is just strips of raw meat, but it seems important to them. Following the river south, you reach a point where you think that you can leave the cover of the foliage and head east towards womford.

After a few hours just before the light starts to fade, you are getting close to road. Illvilious and Nariah both spot two large hairy humanoids hunkering down in a hollow a few yards away from the road. At the moment they are about 100ft away from you and haven’t noticed you. They seem much more intent on the road.

GM: I rolled the perception checks for you, just to keep things moving. Initiative and stealth rolls may be required depending on what you plan to do.

Ilvellios holds his hand up to silently stop the party, then gestures for everyone to wait. Using the nearest cover, he stealthily move closer, trying to get to about 30 feet away, in order to identify the creatures and determine what they are doing.

As Illvilious gets closer, he realises he is facing two bugbears. They appear to be watching the road, waiting for something - or maybe anything.

The rest of the party* remains at range, around 100ft away.

GM: edit: this GM bit so it actuallymakes sense* JV and Erol can still take an action before i move things along a bit if you want to sneak up to the front as well

J.V initiates a telepathic communication with his scouting companion before he disappears. "He said there are two Bugbears watching the road that haven't noticed us yet, they are more focused on the road. What should we do? Soften them from a distance?

Dusk was approaching as they neared Womford and then Ilvellious held up his hand, indicating two dark forms, and JV reported them as bugbears watching the road.

“Bugbears?” Errol said with a scowl. “They can’t be up to anything good if they’re watching the road. They are likely lying in wait to ambush innocent travelers. We should foil their foul schemes,” Errol said, unslinging his bow. But he didn’t attack just yet, waiting for the others’ decision as he sighted the distance and tested the wind direction.
