Sacred Stone Monastery, Day 7, Early evening
You spend some time observing the monastery and exploring the surrounding area in the fading light. You find numerous rock shelves and caves in the windswept hilltops, but none are more than a few feet deep. They could provide good shelter for a few days and the area would be very easy to hide in, even if the monks were looking for you. The cliff side offers little in terms of ways down to the bottom, it would be possible to climb, but it would be quite dangerous, especially in the dark.
Just before last light six dark skinned, white haired dwarves, heavily armed and armoured, leave the monastery by the main door. They do a circuit along the dusty foot path, then head to the entrance of the ravine. They set up a simple watch post from supplies that were well hidden among the rocks. One of them heads down the narrow entrance to the ravine and takes watch while the rest set to gambling at the watch post, sending two out to patrol the dirt track at irregular intervals. They seem relaxed but well disciplined, like they are used to military work.
