(ENN) Warlord Games obtains 2000 AD Miniatures License

Warlord Games has struck a licensing deal with Rebellion, owners of 2000 AD , to produce a range of miniature games, scenery and collectible miniature sets based upon the series and characters from the popular weekly comic. Home of Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Nemesis the Warlock and more across its 40 years of publication.

Until recently Mongoose Publishing had been producing miniatures and roleplaying games based upon the 2000 AD properties but their license expired a few months ago. Warlord Games, who also produce the Doctor Who miniature range among many others, have been fans of 2000 AD for years so it’ll be really interesting to see what they do with the ranges.

Game development has apparently already started, albeit still in the early stages. ”initial plans are for a game based on the world of Strontium Dog, the popular futuristic Wild West-style series where mutated humans such as Johnny Alpha are forced to become bounty hunters.”

Paul Sawyer, Warlord Games Head of Product Design, continued “We have many ideas to bring the wonderful stories from our favourite strips – old and new – to the tabletop and work has begun in earnest to do justice (pun intended) to Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Flesh, Slaine, Kingdom and many of their sister strips. If a mere Earthlet might dare to quote The Mighty Tharg, this is going to be scrotnig!”
