Just had a dawning realization: In Star Wars (the first film) Darth Vader ostensibly tortures Leia to learn more about the rebels and the stolen plans.
His line about 'it may be some time...her resistance to the mind probe is considerable' takes on a whole new meaning when you find out later that she is a Skywalker and an untrained Force user. I wonder if the writers of the force awakens mirrored this with Rey and her 'interrogation' scene.
