Mariana once existed elsewhere. As a child, Mariana lived with ambitions of becoming a Hero and Adventuring.
As Mariana grew up, her perception of life changed her beliefs. She simply adopted the title of “Mercenary” instead of accepting “Hero”. Those she thought to be Heroes became absorbed in their own gluttony. She shunned the term.
They would do a “good thing” one day and soon the people would call them “Great Heroes”, “Saviours” of all things.
Many of which would settle down and reap the rewards of such a title only to grow lazy.
Seeing that people called these individuals “Heroes”, she came up with her own code to live by and did so.
Mariana travelled the lands looking for people in need by going to various towns and villages. She would help those around her but refuse their offerings. When she needed gold, she would work just as the common man would. If there was a conflict, Mariana would see to it that as many innocents as possible were saved.
One day, news of a “thing” came to rise. A great evil that would end the land, a “thing” that would end the world.
Mariana took up arms and sought a way to end it.
On her travels, she was joined by a Witch who had previously sought Mariana's help, an “Undead” with an unwavering determination to follow Mariana after it was freed from an eternal skirmish, and an Orc that simply had respect for Mariana's strength and wanted to witness violence.
Mariana heard of an Artefact that granted it's owner great power and so she lead the group into dangerous territories to find it.
In truth, the Artefact Mariana obtained was just another treasure.
With that, Mariana and her group went after the “thing” as they were out of options.
The “thing” was defeated and Mariana moved on with life. The people of the land knew not of who saved their futures and the group simply dispersed.
Mariana continued to live on, fought and died as she believed a Hero should.
This, is the end of her tale. That which stands before you is but her reincarnation.
