Alignment of factions? Which one fits my character?

Hi,

I am playing a rogue (chaotic/good). At the moment I am involved with the Zhentarim, because of opportunistic reasons. But I have a problem with their beliefs and alignment (evil).

I hate nobles and I want to kill one of the Council of Six (Lady Zharrn Ophal), because she murdered my family. In our campaign the Orphals are not untouchable anymore, because they are escalating a war for purposes of their wealth.

My questions are:

• Would the Shadow Thieves of Amn be a plausible option? Are they "better" than the Zhentarim? Would a chaotic/good character join them?
• Are there other factions that should be considered? (I am thinking of betraying the Zhentarim)

I'm not sure how they fit with what you have in mind, but I think of the Harpers as being Chaotic Good.

The harpers perfectly fit! I never took them into account, because of their logo (harp). Always thought that would be a group of "crazy bards". *joking* ;-)
