Dren winces as he seems to step on every branch and kick every stone along the path as he and the halfling sneak into the town. There was no movement, and the sound of the bell covered everything. Several large boulders were scattered throughout the town, embedded in the earth. They paused beside the small church and a cottage with the doors kicked in and windows smashed.

Carolina drew her crossbow and went to look over the cottage. “Holler if yeh need me, little one,” Dren said. He went toward the temple. The ringing bell in the steeple seemed the only sign of life, so he figured to investigate that as he entered the sanctuary.

Bethany, Eldrath, Fistan, and Tranio:

As best as you can tell in the moonlight, both guard towers are empty. You cross the drawbridge without setting off any ambushes or traps. You notice that both towers contain a large wince. Clearly, turning these in unison would raise the drawbridge.

Carolina:

You enter the cottage and find it to be ransacked. All the cupboards and drawers are open. The floor is covered with items that were either deemed worthless or broken during the search. You look throughout the entire home, but find no one.

Dren:

You find the front doors wide open. Moonlight pours into this high-vaulted chamber through four stained-glass windows set into the north and south walls. The windows depict images of birth, the dawning sun, trees, and unicorns.

Beneath the windows are plain wooden benches for the elderly or infirm to sit on. The room is mostly empty otherwise. Standing against the back wall is a wooden pulpit with steps leading up to it. The floor of the temple is composed of dirt. Set into the west wall, north of the pulpit, is a half open door.

Tranio looks to the others.
"Do you want to stop any chance of escape for them? Or for us, for that matter."

He goes to the winch, and gives it a test. If two others help he'll start winding.

He calls out, cheerily: "If you don't belong here, you're going to die!"

Fistan looks into the town then says, "While I applaud your desire to find justice, I think trapping ourselves in here as well may not be the best idea. Lady Velrosa is best served with information a this point. Perhaps we should move out of the gateway though."

He then heads towards to the church.

Religion check to determine the deity of the temple: 1D20 = [19] = 19

Dren moved carefully through the temple, respectful of the holy place, looking to see to whom it belonged. He noted the door beside the pulpit and was about to head there when Carolina entered behind him. He nodded to the halfling and indicated the door.

Crossing the dirt floor, Dren carefully approached the door and pushed it open further, checking to see if anyone was there.

Tranio shrugs when the others move forward. His hand lingers on the winch as he pulls himself away. He moves towards the watch tower by the gate. Is it possible to climb?

It seemed everyone was interested as to why the belltower was ringing, and Eldrath wouldn't mind finding that much out either. He followed the others in silence, his blade still drawn, he didn't much care for the human gods and he was not too familiar with human architecture, but there had to be a way up to the bell to stop its infernal ringing. Upon entering the building, he sheathed his blade and readied his magic in case one of the little beasts popped out. He was the last in the building so his companions had likely trampled any signs of who/what was inside the temple, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

Bethany:

You see the majority of the party head into the temple.

Carolina and Fistan:

You see your dwarven ally slowly open the door to the next room. A quick glance reveals it to be a simple bedroom.

Dren:

Before opening the door, you determine this temple is dedicated to Lathander, god of the dawn, and the forest goddess Mielikki.

Eldrath:

Despite all the recent tramplings, you are still able to find some goblin tracks that head into the bedroom. You also notice the mattress has been torn open and its straw pulled out. The floor is strewn with the contents of two wooden chests: priestly vestments and worthless personal effects.

Tranio:

Each guard tower has a rope ladder. You'd be able to get a good view of the entire village from the top of one.
