    Survivor Languages: DRACONIC WINS!

    [h/t Zaardnar]

This thread is inspired by the prior threads on the core classes, the core races, the core alignments, feats, and schools of wizard'ing. After delving into some other topics (artifacts and relics, OH MY!), it is time to get back to the nitty gritty of 5e with the languages! Unlike the other survivor threads, this one really really (really?) matters. Because, well, without language, what are we? I feel like I should put in some Wittgenstein here, but I'm really lazy.

That's right- so many of us got our 50 cent words from playing D&D (thank you, Gygax, for antipathy and portcullis) but we never stop and smell the languages, do we? It's all just "I wrote COMMON on my character sheet, and ... something something UNIVERSAL TRANSLATOR FROM STAR TREK ... it all works!" But now it's time to explore that feeling, a little. Will you just reflexively vote put common down, or are you going for something a little exotic?

IMPORTANT NOTE- DOWNVOTES ARE ONLY WORTH 2 IN THIS THREAD. BECAUSE REASONS.

Each language starts with 20 points and you vote for one language you like which gets 1 point and a language you dislike which loses 2 points. It is intentional that a negative vote is worth more than a positive vote- first, being inertia is a powerful force (that's why getting up from being prone causes half your movement, and we don't play D&D while running a marathon). Second, because.

Upvotes are in green, downvotes are in in red (unless you are on your phone, and are unable to). Copy and paste the previous posters vote and change the numbers. You may vote once per day. This is an honor system, and we are all honorable gamers; please do not abuse it. If this means you vote once at night one day, and once the next morning - that's fine, but don't vote again until the following day.

This is purely a popularity contest and you do not have to explain an upvote or downvote, but feel free to- explanations are where the fun is! When downvotes reach 0 the language is eliminated (FATALITY!). Finally, if a language has one vote left, then you have to make the choice to use all of your downvotes to eliminate it; there is no vote splitting.

Two important points that you must read before voting-
    1. This is a pure popularity contest, and is meant to be fun. You can cast your votes for whatever reason you want. Spite, irrational love/hate, gameplay mechanics, strategic voting, and so on is perfectly acceptable. Do you think undercommon is just the lazy man's answer for, "What's my second common?" Do you ever ask yourself, "Self, why do halflings speak a separate language? I just saw Lord of the Rings, and I totally understood them!" It's all good! This vote does not affect anything in real life, and no languages will be removed from 5e because of your vote. You can comment for the reasons for your vote, or not- up to you! But this is for enjoyment only.

    2. I took the list of languages (both standard and exotic) from the OGL/SRD, as posted here-
    https://5thsrd.org/character/languages/
As always, the list is the list, please do not alter it.

Katana Just kidding! Katana speaks the universal language of, "I think your ego is writing checks your hit points can't cash."

Draconic is the WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!

You know what this quote reminded me of?

    Alignment languages!

Man, I miss those. Yes, an utterly stupid idea (everyone who has the same alignment can, um, speak in a super-duper secret cant) but still, so very cool.

There is a fine line between clever and stupid.

    It was in 1e.

I always loved writing the "extra" language down, because, you know, I was that guy.
