D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil II

The journey to Rivergard is handled relatively easily. A strange burnt orange sky hangs a bit too long in the day. The keep is in many ways much how some of you had left it some time ago.

A small castle overlooks the mighty Dessarin River, which is a good half-mile wide at this point. A gatehouse and keep stand atop a low bluff, but the walls are built to the water's edge. On the river bank, another low tower guards a boat basin where keelboats have been scuttled.

The keep seems old and worn, no repairs are underway. No banner flies over the keep.

The front gate is open.

You find most of the facility vacant.

Still, just below the main keep is a hidden store.

At the bottom of the stairs, you find a torchlit chamber where two boats bob in an underground stream. The stream flows toward daylight to the east and leads upstream into darkness toward the west.

"I have recently learned some magics that would make a boat not necessary," offers Carradoc. That would give us greater range of movement, and not force us to offer a single target."

(he offers to cast Water walk as a ritual; duration 1 hr.; casting time 10 min)

Smiling towards Carradoc, Thaliss says telepathically Two boats, and two ritual casters. Lets do something so we don't have to row!. He proceeds to ritually cast unseen servant, and directs the summoned creature to go in a boat, and to start rowing once it he and another have boarded.

Once you are underway you follow a dark stream, a navigable waterway linking Rivergard Keep to an ancient dwarven domain. The stream is sluggish, and it isn't hard to row or pole a boat against the current.

Firelight shines from a large cavern ahead. The stream opens into a large underground lake. To the right, a crumbling stone quay leads to a tunnel heading northeast. A ten-foot skiff is moored to the quay, and a torch burns in a bronze sconce by the tunnel mouth. Beside the quay, a twenty-foot wide canal leads north from the large lake. The lake stretches westward into darkness.

Please give me a moment Thaliss says telepathically, as he closes his eyes. An owl appears above his head, and seems to survey the area.

To the north...

A twenty-foot wide canal leads between ancient masonry walls into darkness. The water moves sluggishly, indicating a weak current. Torchlight flickers in the distance.

on the platform nearest are four reavers in sharkscale armor with toothed swords and a fat blue-tinged man. In the water nearby, riding a large shark, is a swimming pirate "knight" of some sort.

To the west...

This underground lake is dark, still, and cold. To the west, the lake ends at a gravel shore, and a faint glimmer of torchlight hints at a channel or canal to the north. To the south, a crumbling stone quay leads to a dark passageway. At the east end of the lake, another torch burns above a larger quay, with another passageway leading east. A second canal leads north from the eastern portion of the lake, and the glimmer of light comes from that direction, as well.

The ceiling of this cavern is a dome, at its highest point almost 50 feet above the water.

"I'll cause a distraction so you can land the boats safely!" Kubeba whispers. "Just nudge the boat a little closer to the wall here."

Kubeba activates his cloak and walks up the wall to a position above the 5 people on the landing. With a roar he jumps down to get ready to attack.

[sblock=action] try to jump as close to the fat blue guy as possible .
