It is a hot, sweltering day in Small Town, as the crowds filter into the modest stadium. Of course, to call it a modest stadium does a disservice to modest stadiums everywhere, for it is little more than a sports field with some wooden bleachers on a hill overlooking a small field with a rickety fence denoting the fight zone, but we're trying to be nice.

The people move in to the stands, a general excitement filling the air. It's Small Town's first gladiatorial Games! They even have a real, official Game Master, on loan from the Imperial City!

The Sorcerer sits on a chair atop a podium overlooking the field with a flat look on his face. The crowds are much smaller than he is used to, but he is still being paid. He knows his duty. The heat of the day doesn't touch him, of course. He is quite comfortable as he sips his chilled wine. He sets his cup down and addresses the crowd. It is time.

"Welcome to the Games!" he calls out, and everyone flinches as his voice booms over the field, easily heard by everyone present. "Today, we have two individuals who will fight to the death for your enjoyment. Attendants! Raise the gates!"

With that, the gates on either side of the field raise. The Game Master looks at a small card, and reads "On the left, we have..."

OOC: And...go!

As Colden struts into the arena he hears his introduction and grins, here it was; this was to moment he had trained for. The crowd was baying already and the Game Master was raising his hands to silence the crowd. Slipping into his role, Colden bit his thumb at the crowd and gestured rudely and was rewarded with a resounding chorus of boo's and screams of anger.

Taking off his helmet he gives the crowd a mocking bow before presenting them with his posterior, laughing he straightened as the roars of anger intensified and put his helmet back on.

The Game Master finally managed to bring the crowd under control.

"And on the left, the man you love to hate! Good people, I shudder to think at what nightmare conjured this merciless killer, this reaver. Surely only the mother of all evil could spawn such a man. You watched as he butchered Kreevus and you wept as he cruelly beheaded the beautiful Lysander but today you see him battle again. Will he meet his match?"

The crowd bays for Colden's blood and rotten food is thrown into the arena at the question. Colden raises his arms above his head and basks in their anger.

"I give to you good people, Colden 'Shadowsoul' Moor!"

"And his opponenent is..." the Game Master continues as a small, blue-haired gnome waddles through the oversized gate. A gnome? he gasps to himself, though the crowd may have heard his magically amplified voice before the chorus of groans erupted from the stands. Gibley Garren waves to the audience with a wanderlust-filled smile, and the Game Master puts his head in his hands. "Well, this should be... short."

The Game Master sighs, then lifts his mallet in one hand, and a small portable gong in the other.

"Begin!" He cries as he hits the gong.

OOC: Gibley goes first. You are each 20 feet from your entrance, and 60 feet from each other. There is nothing else of note in the arena. Go!

The gnome flinches at the sound of the gong, and instinctively grabs a metal contraption from his back and aim it toward the armored warrior. He squeezes a button on the underside of the device, and a thunderous BOOM! echos throughout the arena! Gibley then quickly backs up, putting his back to the wall while he reloads his weapon.
