If the gm decides that you can't use the natural bond, you might consider companion spellbond (PHB II). Allows you to cast your shared spells on your animal companion at range so you can help it out from a safe location.

damn work.

Darksfear: yes. yes you can

Thaddious: it caps at your level and cannot exceed it. if you multiclass in the future it will kick in then.

everyone: just a cheeky intro i wrote up while working on lore and history. this is considered common knowledge so all characters regardless of upbringing would know this.

Welcome, traveler, to the world of Seraphim!
Well… what’s left of it, anyways…

You seem new here so I’m going to give you a quick breakdown on what’s happened here and why things are the way they are. Take a seat and grab some chow! This is going to be a long story…

This is a world ravaged and still recovering form a war that left it buried in the sands of history. But ill get to why. Lest me start at the beginning. At least… the beginning of time as anyone now a days cares to know. Almost 2000 years ago, during what was called by most as “the golden age”, our draconic overlords who protected us… “Mortals” known as humans, elves, dwarves, and gnomes from both ourselves and the dark forces outside their glorious kingdom, left us wholly to our own devices and gave us permission to pursue whatever we wanted as long as we didn’t circumvent their authority…

...This was there biggest mistake…

Of course, we perused things like Exploration and while mapping out the lands we where originality forbidden from seeing we met and made connections with races like the catfolk, the Tengu and many others. Soon after we found the edges of our Draconic Lords lands we focused inwards. Art, culture, and Education… you know. Boring stuff. However most call it inevitable that we moved towards attempting to master the mysterious force known to most as magic that our masters and there half bloods known as sorcerers welded. As we prodded at learning the mysteries to… “The Art” as they started calling it, many cities cropped up across there kingdom. Our Draconic masters grew suspicious at our meddling and after first threatening to crush our cities and kill our families, they simply and mysteriously disappeared. At this time, we split up the Dragons kingdom into several kingdoms ruled over by our most powerful and wise. Our first wizard kings and their Sorcerer Lord allies. At first, we rejoiced but soon after we realised that their protection is what was truly keeping us safe from… them

The Forgotten.

No one is sure where they came from exactly but many hypothesised that they came from deep beneath the earth. Like a great Black tide they rushed in causing great devastation. We don’t know how much was destroyed and what was crafted at this dark time, but it is known that despite the dragons abandoning us to our fate for our hubris we had survived The Forgotten. Harnessing our desperation, we forged new and powerful spells and artifacts at the arcane collages that began to flourish in the capital cities of the kingdoms that where forged in the wake of the dragons exiadious. Years passed, not sure how many but Finally, after so many years of loss we had forged the great Mana walls and the colossi other such contraptions meant to hold back the Forgotten so we could protect our people without sacrificing our solders. We where at last powerful enough to stand on our own against the Darkness.

But as our power grew, our trust in each other dwindled and just as we where on the brink of our own sustainable peace, we learned our harshest lesson of all: Power does not breed trust. We don’t know what sparked The Great War or who struck first, only the oldest Dragons, most ancient elven sages and the Forgotten themselves could tell you that but we do know what factions survived to near the end of the war.

The Dragons.
The Psionic Combine.
The Wizard Kings.
The Sorcerer Lords.
The Forgotten.

many more fought in the Great War and where lost but with the threat of The war Ripping reality apart, it was a single spell that forged the Shards to the south after all, “The Law” was forged and signed by the leaders of the sensible leaders and the surviving wizard kings and there Dragon progenitors and a tenuis pact and cease fire was agreed to and enforced using powerful Primal Truename magic. The Great War was over. To let the world Begin healing as well as for the better of all kinds.

At least that’s what they say. It was over 400 years ago after all. During those years the remaining survivors of all races and creeds scattered to the winds, only forming settlements even close to cities in massive ruins of the cities forged during the “Golden age” like Bastion and Last Reach. The world outside there enchanted walls is a unforgiving arcane blasted chaotic wilderness that is almost unlivable.

Makes me question what your doing out here just outside the shards… at least Bastion isn’t far from here. Its just north from here. Follow the road and you can’t miss it. Best hurry before it gets dark. Don’t want the Forgotten catching you out here. They hunt at night. Even if you do, Traveller, remember this:

If you go out at night, make sure you stick to the path… or there going to get ya.

Ware the moors lads... Ware the moors. :)

Very nice intro. Can't wait to get going, even though my character is not 100% complete yet.

So, I've made some minor backstory edits. Just wanted to run them past you for approval Mr. GM. My character would have liked to have been cast out into the wilderness as a young child (probably around 8). However the nature spirits that protected her blended her into her surroundings by giving her a very monstrous appearance and by overtaking an mortal aura she might have with a supernatural aura that made her appear to belong. As she grew and got more powerful however, her mortal side slowly began to get more and more noticeable through her protective shroud. Thus by the time the campaign starts she wouldn't be getting anything besides a bit of a fluff bonus (or any circumstantial things you may choose to add at a later point). Thoughts?

The Joker, is there hope for this or we wait for better times?
