Adi starts to say something, but as he sees Maka turn and walk away he shrugs and jogs up next to his friend. As he approaches, he taps him on his left shoulder but walks to his right side.
OOC: Whatever Maka's response, Adi will just give him a big grin.

Day 261: Needing a Key

GM: It takes about 20 minutes to walk back over to the mountain facade, the crew has taken to calling Keep 1. It takes about another hour to divide up and search back through everything looking for a a flat, triangular piece of stone. The stone is located in he master bedroom, which makes sense, of course.

It takes another 20 minutes to walk back to the keep with the secured, stone door. The triangular stone fits exactly in the slot, though it has to be oriented so that the design matches the door; afterwhich, nothing happens. Trying the keystone the other two options produces no results, either.

Vittero offers, "The Yahdram seem to have been expressly talented with the manipulation of Way Lines. Perhaps we need to try something more, even with the key in place."

Waynan

Adventurer
Raven Elk, remembering how the manipulation of mechanical Way focuses the use of teleporting (somewhat, anyway), says, "Let me try something."

Holding the "key" to match the door's pattern, Raven Elk manipulates Way with the act of the door opening being primary in his thoughts.
OOC: sort of like the "open sesame" thing, just done mentally, more or less.

And, if that doesn't work, he'll try it again and actually say the word: "Open."

Day 261: Opening the Door

Raven Elk, remembering how the manipulation of mechanical Way focuses the use of teleporting (somewhat, anyway), says, "Let me try something."

Holding the "key" to match the door's pattern, Raven Elk manipulates Way with the act of the door opening being primary in his thoughts...
GM: Raven Elk pushes a wave of air. Having no real idea if it will work or not, he pushes with all of his ability, so much so that he pushes himself backward, away from the door, stumbling to catch his balance. The pulse of air makes a resounding thump, hitting the door. The door then makes the strange sound that a container makes when opening, that has been closed for a long time. It is like an audible sigh.

The door slides directly inward about a stride. There are two grooves cut into the stone floor and several smooth, spherical stones have been placed inside them. The tracks are also filled with some kind of oily fluid. The spheres spin and the extremely heavy stone door slides over them. Now that it has been opened, it appears that the mechanism would allow a single person to close the door from the inside. There does not appear to be a way to close the door, back, from the outside so that must, once again, require the manipulation of Way.

Anyone wishing to enter will have to walk around the door. The entry appears to be a hall, about a pace wide. It is dark, the only light being from outside, and impossible to tell how long the hall might be or where it might lead.

Maka says, "Before we commit, we need to know we can get out. We know we can open it from the outside. One of us should go in, and use the lever to close the door. Then, that person should try to use the inside lever to open it again. If the door does not open again within a short span of moments, we should open it again from the outside. That way, we'll know whether or not going inside and closing the door behind us will be a one-way trip. Adi, do you still have those light wands?"

Taylar says, "I think we can risk it, just don't shut the door." He walks around the door and into the hall. He manipulates Way to light a stone and tosses it down the hall to illuminate what is there.

Day 261: Entering Keep 5

Taylar says, "I think we can risk it, just don't shut the door." He walks around the door and into the hall. He manipulates Way to light a stone and tosses it down the hall to illuminate what is there.
[sblock=Light]Range: Touch
Damage: 10
Effectiveness:
  • Essence + Adhesion +
  • Mind + Knowledge + Will +
  • Collegiate + d100
By actively manipulating Way, this generates a small glowing light or a sudden bright flash. The flash, which is instantaneous, can be used to temporarily hinder the vision (loss of Mind) of an opponent. The glowing light can be applied to a stone object causing it to be illuminated for a time. Neither metal nor wood can be used to sustain the light. The duration of the light is equal to 1 minute per cumulative Will ability.
Resist Flash:
  • Conditioning (Combat Task) +
  • Clarity (Collegiate Task) + d100
Duration: 5 minutes
[/sblock]
Sylvar passes out the glow globes, keeping one for himself, and follows Taylar through the door.
Vittero takes one of the light sticks, illuminates it, and follows Adisakti.
GM: All who choose to do so move around the door and into the hall. When Taylar tossed his illuminated stone, everyone sees that the hall is only about 3 paces long. In the center of the hall, attached as close to the ceiling as possible, on each side of the hall, is a glass globe. About 1 second after Taylar's stone passes, they illuminate of their own volition.

This provides even more light by which Taylar can see. The door is a solid block of stone, completely smooth on its edges. There is no physical mechanism on the door, except for the triangular key slot on the outside.

The hall opens into a much larger interior room. As the lighted stone comes to rest inside that room, the walls of the room itself become lit with a pale blue radiance.

Vittero extinguishes the glow of his light stick and hands it back to Adi. He then knocks an arrow to his bow and moves into the next room.

Adi moves into the room with V and Taylar, he holds a light stick in each hand, both lit up with as much electromagnetic way as Adi can pump into them without overload. He'll use them as bludgeoning instruments in case of another spirit.

Maka, seeing that light is no longer an issue, extinguishes his wand and hands it back to Adi, as he draws his bow, and loosely nocks an arrow (placing no tension on the string); he then follows the others cautiously down the passageway, staying alert for movement or strange noises.
