Harb waited for the old woman to leave before standing and moving effortlessly to catch up with the others.

"She spoke a name, Acererak, that we would face at Omu. Does that name have any meaning to you Qawasha?"

Rodrigo let out an explosive breath when Harb finally darted forward to the group.

"That old lady is a cannibal - the only reason she didn't go after us is that she deems us too dangerous. Let's hurry back to the others, I am wary of leaving them unguarded long."

Looking over his shoulder he added "I heard that name too... it's still vague, but it's becoming more solid. A location and a name, that's far more than what we had before... Perhaps once the mapping is done, the people at the camp will have more information?

Legend
The Sticks returned through the Mbala Archway and down they went past innumerable piles of bleached-white skulls. They had passed them before, but somehow the skulls seemed more sinister this time through. They were relieved to find Wulf, Tarri, and Kasqa safe and unharmed. Tarri had very nearly finished her map-sketches, and all were very happy to see Qawasha returned safely.

FitzTheRuke

Legend
By the time the Sticks had reunited with their allies, it was quite dark and they made camp at the first flat spot they could find as the long trail switched-back as it travelled thousands of feet back down to the jungle.

OOC: Long Rest. I just went back to check what time of day it should be, and it should be quite late! It was growing dark when Qawasha was stollen, and you took a short rest, then walked two hours to the nest (and presumably the same back). We lost track of time a bit, it seems. A very long dusk today. Well, you are way up high, so I guess it kept the last of the light longer than expected. At any rate, it is far too dark to go down the cliff tonight. Still, feels a bit close to Nanny's place for comfort.

The name Acerarak didn’t mean anything to Dellrak. He wasn’t sure they should let the cannibal woman remain running around, but he didn’t want to fight a swarm of flying monkeys either. As long as she didn’t bother them, he wouldn’t kill her.

They trekked back up the mountain to rejoin the others. It was dark and late now, so they made camp in anticipation of heading back down in the morning.

When the sun rose again, Dellrak felt better. He stretched and started breakfast.

Miss Imogen was too far way to hear the old woman's words, but the laughter carried over the clearing and gave her a shudder. Later, when the name was mentioned by her companions, she was concerned again.

They had rescued Qawasha, which was good, but this quest was costing them too much. Her clothes were a mess, and she was hot and hungry. Some of that was quickly solved: she ran her hand over her long skirts, pulling moisture from the air and chilling it, and in a short time she had refreshed all her garments.

She no longer felt heat, she realized, even as her skin shone pink from being in the sun too long at these heights. I'll have to remember that, she tells herself.

Before the descent, they camp for the night, Granny's watchman nearby keeping an eye on the Sticks. She took a watch in the dark of night, but managed to get some sleep either side of it.

Legend
The night was relatively quiet, with only a soft rain. As the first light of morning rose in the east, Ukee the winged monkey climbed up on a rock beside Harb and copied him as he looked out over the Aldani Basin, scanning the area for trouble. She shaded her eyes with a little hand and scrunched her face in a serious expression.

Again, like the day before, Harb saw the Heart of Ubtao floating over the swamp many miles to the south east, and he could just make out the strange ship lodged in the trees to the south.

Harb drew out a pack of rations and began to eat his breakfast. As he ate, he offered some tidbits to the winged monkey experimenting a bit to see what kinds of food it liked and what it did not.

Otherwise, he didn't seem to respond to the mimicry in any way.
