(OT) Interesting Dragons of Autumn Twilight tidbit

ArcOfCorinth

First Post
I completely missed this the first time I read the book.

I missed it the second time as well.

Then I saw it on the third read. Maybe I'm alone in this. Regardless, I view it as a prime example on how to properly foreshadow.

If you don't know, I'm not going to spoil it. Just go read the chapter where the first meet the unicorn. Read everything she says very, very carefully. You'll see what I mean.

Of course, this only works if you read Dragons of Winter Night sometime after you read book one.

I picked it up the first time. ;)

IIRC, Weis and Hickman refer to it in their author's note to "Test of the Twins", the final of the Legends trilogy - it was an intentional piece of foreshadowing.

Several other excellent instances of foreshadowing occur in the Silvanesti Dream. (Dragons of Winter Night). These are interesting because although more blatant, they're also often wrong. (In the modules, this dream actually occurs in Thorbardin, the Silvanesti dream is quite different, but really fun to DM).

Cheers!
